A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death in front of his girlfriend by her brother who was opposed to their relationship reports Times of India (TOI). Along with the 21-year-old accused Mohammad Mahboob, his sister Shahnaz Parveen and father Mohammad Rahmat were also taken into custody and charged with conspiring to murder Manoj Kumar Sah.
As per available information, the incident took place on Friday morning at 7 when Manoj and Shahnaz were supposedly meeting secretively at Birpur. The police have issued a statement in this regard and said “police got information about the murder around 10.15 am when Manoj’s family members traced his body”.
The family began searching for Manoj as he was not responding to their calls having left home early in the morning. The police also said that Mahboob pursued Manoj after he saw the latter following his sister when she stepped out of their home. He is believed to have followed them and later stabbed Manoj to death before fleeing from the scene.
Supaul SP Manoj Kumar said Mahboob was arrested within three hours of the incident, adding Manoj and Shehnaz were in a relationship for around seven years. It has also come to light that Mahboob had threatened and thrashed Manoj on several occasions after coming to know about his relationship with his sister as he was opposed to the same. Mahboob is ultimately said to have killed Manoj on the same issue.
it must be mentioned here that Mahboob’s elder brother Mohammad Aslam is also in jail in another murder case that took place a few months back. Police sources said Shehnaz informed the police that her brother had attempted to kill her too but she managed to flee.
TOI quotes police sources as saying “Two stab wounds were visible on the neck while one was visible in the ribs of Manoj’s body. Shehnaz told police that Manoj was killed before her eyes”. It was only after the victim’s father Rambabu Sah named the girl and her father as well in his complaint that all three were taken into custody last Friday (29 January) and remanded to judicial custody on Saturday.
