1500 dead, rotting chickens found stored in meat market which supplies shawarma stalls: Kozhikode, Kerala

Are Keralites being fed shawarmas made from dead chickens? Around 1,500 dead chickens were found stored in the MKB Market owned by CP Rasheed near Eranhikkal in the Kozhikode district. Residents raised suspicions after the stench spread in the area. Shop employees claimed that the chickens died from the heat as the vehicle carrying the chickens was delayed due to an accident. Rather than dispose of the stale meat, why someone would store it in his godown is beyond ordinary logic.

Locals intimated the health department officials, who stated that not a single chicken was found alive in the shop, and all the chickens there were dead. The shop even had an underground dungeon where they found worm-infested chicken meat that was several days old. When another shuttered room was opened, they found chickens stored in the freezer without removing the skin or feathers.

Tools used for shawarma mixing and machines to slaughter and skin chickens were also found. It is suspected that dead chickens were sent from this shop to make Shawarma. Local corporation councilor Anandan stated that the same shop owner has multiple retail outlets throughout Kozhikode. Anandan asked the administration to check whether similar meat was being delivered to those places. Allegedly, MKB Market sold meat to hotels and bakeries at a low price.

Veterinary doctor PN Amulya said that the chickens had been taken for post-mortem to find out if they died due to some illness, and further steps would be taken after the results. The health department has advised closing the shop. Elathur zonal health inspector K Salil and police Sub-Inspector Ravindran participated in the inspection. The dead chickens were removed to a waste treatment plant. Salil said that he tried to contact Rasheed but to no avail.

The Kerala State Chicken Traders Committee has demanded strict legal action against those selling low-quality and dead chickens. There is not a single Hindu in that organization but included Kozhikode District President KV Rasheed, Secretary VP Mustafa Kinassery, Acting Secretary Feroze Pokunna, Treasurer C.K. Abdurrahman, and district committee members Sadiq Pasha, Sajid, and Ziyad. They asked the authorities to inspect all chicken stalls selling low-quality meat at low prices.

Interestingly, authorities had earlier found similar dead chicken meat in at least four retail outlets owned by MKB Market. Back then, some legal ‘action’ was taken. Mainly, such measures are mere eyewash involving a fine where corrupt officials allegedly pocket money and hush up the incident.

Chicken traders committee members admitted that the same establishments were later reopened using political and bureaucratic influence. They informed that if such practices continue, protest marches and dharnas will be led to the corporation office and outlets selling low-quality chickens.

A mafia is actively importing sick chickens from farms in other states into Kerala. The financial intelligence department has information that a group that evaded taxes is behind this smuggling. Dead chickens crossing the border are collected by wholesalers at half price. Such rotten meat is in high demand in wholesale centers as it can be sold at a lower price than the market price.

Hotels and bakeries mainly buy meat from them. Dead chickens are primarily brought to the district from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. No one notices as the goods are delivered in lorries early in the morning. Such establishments then supply shawarma meat to many restaurants in north Kerala.

Citing Halal, Muslims have conquered Kerala’s food industry, including vegetables and fruits. Hindupost had earlier reported how anyone who comes (even ladies) in the way is ruthlessly eliminated using brute power with help from the administration. Radical Islamists assisted by top courts in Bharat then whitewash such crimes.

Meanwhile, Hindus have no problems consuming rotten meat, which encourages inhumane practices and the Halal economy. Dozens of youngsters, including children, have died from food poisoning after consuming Shawarma made from such meat. Are Keralites digging their graves?
