They hanged them…while we were silent

Two days after 20-year-old Trilochan Mahato was found hanging from a tree in Purulia’s Balarampur development block, another BJP activist Dulal Kumar (30) was hanged from a high-tension electrical transmission tower in Dabha village in the same area on Friday night, Swarajya has reported.

Kumar had also received death threats from local Trinamool Congress activists for his stellar work during the recent Panchayat elections in which BJP emerged as the foremost contender to the ruling TMC.

His body has been sent for post mortem, with a PTI article claiming that the newly-appointed Purulia SP said the hanging was ‘suicidal in nature’ as per post-mortem report. If the SP has indeed said this, it would not be surprising as the WB police force & administrative machinery has been completely neutered and made into a party organ by Mamata Banerjee.

Intriguingly, the first of the killings had occurred hours after TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, also Trinamool youth wing president and nephew of chief minister Mamata Banerjee, declared at a party rally that the ruling party would make Purulia “Opposition-free”.

TMC secretary-general Partha Chatterjee said he suspected that ‘Bajrang Dal had a role in the incidents.’ TMC Rajya Sabha member Derek O’ Brien also parroted the same line while hinting at ‘the involvement of the BJP, the Bajrang Dal or Maoists’ in the 2 incidents.

Around 19 BJP workers and leaders have been murdered in West Bengal before and after the recent farcical WB Panchayat elections that have seen an unprecedented reign of terror from TMC goons.

PTI report creates doubt whether the 2 dead men were BJP workers

The PTI report, which most MSM outlets have quoted, says, “…Trilochon Mahato (20), who the party said was a member of its youth wing” – this statement would make the reader think that there is doubt whether Trilochan actually worked for BJP or the party is just making the claim to garner public sympathy. Now, read this ground report where Trilochan’s family and the entire village talk about how he was a passionated nationalist, Modi supporter and BJP youth leader. How could a responsible news agency try to obfuscate such an obvious fact?

This is another example of how our media and news agencies like PTI downplay crimes to cover up for so-called secular forces. PTI is a non-profit cooperative among more than 500 Indian newspapers currently led by Indian Express (a rabidly anti-Hindu newspaper) boss Viveck Goenka.  Did the same PTI and other media outlets show even the tiniest restraint while outraging over the suicide of Rohith Vemula (whose father himself acknowledged that he was an OBC) as an ‘atrocity on Dalits’ by the BJP Government?

The murders of these 2 BJP workers are no aberration – they are part of a sustained campaign to silence any assertive Hindu voice, linked to BJP or otherwise, across the country. The situation is especially grave in parts of the country like West Bengal, Kerala, Lower Assam, West UP, J&K, South TN, Coastal & South Karnataka etc.

President of WB BJP Mahila Morcha Locket Banerjee has called the situation in West Bengal ‘akin to Syria’ and she is not far off the mark – moreover, while the Islamists are facing stiff resistance from Syrian Army, they have a free run in Mamta’s Bengal.

But our liberal-secular ruling elites (intellectuals, bureaucrats, lawyers, judges, English media editors), most of whom share a Nehruvian worldview, couldn’t care less. They dismiss such cold-blooded murders and the relentless sexual violence and preying on Hindu women as random, unconnected crimes or ‘fake news’.

In July 2013, with around 8 months to go for the 2014 general election, Pratap Bhanu Mehta (then President of leading think-tank Centre for Policy Studies, now Vice-Chancellor of Ashoka University), in a rare flash of integrity for a liberal Indian intellectual who otherwise are peddlers of the Congress line, wrote a piece titled ‘While we were silent’. This was a time by which UPA scams had gone through the roof, the IAC (India Against Corruption) movement had been raging for over 2 years, and policy paralysis & lack of leadership had totally derailed any semblance of governance.

Mehta’s article started with the line “A story of destructive governance and citizens who did not speak out”. As Mediacrooks blogged, “It’s not that citizens didn’t speak out. It’s just that Pratap Bhanu Mehta and his entire clan in the MSM were sleeping.”

But such is the hate for Modi and any movement that demands equal rights & respect for Hindus that no self-proclaimed liberal-secular intellectual has as yet called out Mamta Banerjee for her fascist, totalitarian regime. In the case of West Bengal, our elites & the rest of the country is still sleeping.
