Entire MSM tries to defame UP’s anti-conversion law over Kushinagar police action in a missing girl case

A Muslim girl who was reported missing in Azamagarh, UP was found by police in Kushinagar district getting married to a Muslim man. Apparently, police were tipped off by another Muslim man, who lived in the same village as the groom, that a Muslim man was marrying a Hindu woman after converting her to Islam.

Conversions for marriage have to be notified two months in advance to the DM as per the new law introduced by UP govt to combat forced and/or deceitful conversions, including mass conversions done by religious proselytisers.

As per law, police took both bride, Shabeela Khatoon (28), and groom, Haider Ali (39), into protective custody and brought them to the police station at 7.30 PM on Tuesday, reports New Indian Express. The couple claimed they were Muslim by birth and were getting married consensually. The girl provided her brother’s number around 9 PM and the police immediately spoke to him. They confirmed that the girl was Muslim after seeing her Aadhar card photo, and found that her family had filed a missing person complaint for her with Azamgarh police.

Police requested the girl’s brother to come over to talk to his sister and settle the issue. At this point, even Haider Ali confirms that ‘police personnel were polite after that’. He has alleged that police beat him earlier, a charge the police denies.

Multiple media reports have confirmed the basic facts of this case, such as this report in a Muslim-run site –

“According to details of the case, Hyder Ali(39), a barber, worked in Mubarakpur town of Azamgarh district. Ali had lost his wife a few years ago. While working in Mubarakpur, he came in contact with 27-year-old Shabeela. As family members of Shabeela were not willing to marry her with Hyder Ali, she escaped clandestinely and went to the village of Hyder Ali for marriage.

When the marriage was to take place in Gurmiya village, village watchmen Mustaqeem Ali, informed some members of the Hindu right wing. Mustaqeem told the Hindu youths that the girl happened to be Hindu without confirming it from Hyder Ali.

….Hyder and Shabeela were released on Wednesday after Shabeela’s brother told the police that his family had no objection if they wanted to marry. Shabeela also told the police that she did not want to go with her family but wanted to marry Hyder.

Sanjay Kumar, SHO of Kasaya Police Station, said that the police took action in the matter owing to sensitivity of the case after receiving information that a Hindu girl was going to marry a Muslim boy without taking prior permission from the authorities. “However, later it turned out that both were from the same community and were allowed to go”, he said.”

Refuting the charges of ‘torture’ levelled by Haider Ali, Kushinagar SP VK Singh claimed that it was not any secret mission under which the couple was brought to the police station.  “Also, the matter was sorted soon… There was no reason to beat up anyone,” said Kushinagar SP.

So a case in which police did everything by the book, and in which they managed to close a missing person complaint, has been blown up and distorted as a case of ‘harassment of Muslims’ by the entire mainstream media (Indian Express, The Wire, Times of India etc.) and left-liberal-Islamist class. What if the girl in this case had been a genuine victim of kidnapping and forced marriage? Isn’t it good that police performed their due diligence before letting the couple go? That the misunderstanding over ‘Love Jihad’ was created by one Mustaqeem, a Muslim village watchman, is adroitly hidden deep in the reports where headlines scream about ‘Love Jihad bogey’.

Meanwhile, more and more genuine cases of victims of grooming jihad (aka Love Jihad) finding solace due to the new law continue to pour in such as this latest case from Hardoi, UP.
