English Media wakes up to Love Jihad case after Muslim gets killed in Bulandshahr, UP

Love Jihad has caused bloodshed in the past, and will do so in future unless our society wakes up to this evil and takes decisive steps against it. Despite cases of Love Jihad being reported with sickening frequency from West UP, police, administration, national media and public intellectuals all continued to ignore this horrible phenomenon –  dismissing all reports of Love Jihad as a ‘Hindutva conspiracy’.

15 years of ‘secular’ rule in UP has created a ticking time-bomb in West UP, which accompanied by a massive demographic change is pushing the region into chaos. An apathetic, corrupt, inefficient and thoroughly politicized UP police force which neither invokes confidence in citizens nor fear in criminals, has meant that people are increasingly taking refuge in vigilante justice which is defined as ‘extrajudicial punishment that is motivated by the nonexistence of law and order or dissatisfaction with justice.’

On April 27, a 19-year-old (some reports say he is 22) man named Yusuf (resident of Sohi village, Pahasu Police Station area, Bulandshahr district of West UP) kidnapped an 18-year-old Hindu girl, a resident of village Fazalpur, also in the Pahasu area. The girl’s family lodged a case of kidnapping against Yusuf at the Pahasu police station. The girl was apparently kidnapped in a car, and as per this report, police has arrested the driver of the car and two close associates of Yusuf. But the girl and Yusuf have still not been traced.

The girl’s family and their associates in Sohi village suspected Ghulam Mohammad (aged 45), a relative of Yusuf, of being involved in the kidnapping and of knowing the girl’s whereabouts. On Tuesday morning, 5-6 men went to the mango orchard where Mohammad worked and got into an argument over the issue, following which they beat him up and he died on the way to hospital.

Ghulam Mohammed’s son Wakil Ahmed has lodged an FIR against one Gavender from Sohi village and 5-6 unidentified men for killing his father. As per this FIR, Yusuf, son of Razuddin, resident of Sohi village, and a girl from Fazalpur village were ‘in love with each other’. After the couple ‘eloped’, Wakil claims that his family was being threatened for no reason.

English media and news agencies like ANI have been quick to blame Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) for this incident, but as per local Hindi media, police has said that initial investigations have not revealed any involvement of HYV.

After Ghulam Mohammed’s death, the entire police machinery has gone into overdrive and senior officials are now camping in the village. One wonders if similar alacrity to trace the missing girl could have prevented things coming to this pass?

But such questions are besides the point for national media – the only reason this entire incident is important for them now is because a Muslim man has been killed by a ‘Hindu mob’ …that too where the involvement of an organization (HYV) linked to CM Yogi Adityanath is alleged. The missing Hindu girl is just incidental to the whole issue for English MSM.

ANI headline has no mention of the kidnapped Hindu girl, the root cause of this issue.

Contrast this with how regional Hindi news outlets are reporting the issue…they know the context  of how Love Jihad has assumed epidemic proportions, creating a deep-rooted insecurity and desperation in Hindus of the region. They know that there is real anger in people, and this is not just a fabricated issue created by a political outfit.

Hindi media clearly mentioning Love Jihad as the root cause of the conflict; no mention of HYV

If someone is still not convinced about the ugly reality of Love Jihad, another case from the same Bulandshahr district has come to light. The girl, while speaking to local reporters, says –

“My father is an alcoholic, mother goes out to work and I don’t have any brothers. This boy who said his name was Rahul trapped me in an affair by promising to marry me saying that he first had to marry off his unwed sister. He exploited me physically for 3 years and even forced me to abort. When I got pregnant again, I asked him to marry me and even met his parents – they refused and threatened me. When I went to Gulavati police station to register my complaint, the policewoman there shooed me away – she refused to lodge my complaint and even threatened to beat me with planks. I found out just few months back that the boy is a Muslim and his name is Arif. Now I have come to Bulandshahr to see whether I get justice.”

When reporters went to meet SP (city) Man Singh Chauhan, he claimed that he had just got to know about the issue. When probed by reporters on what action he would take against the police personnel who refused to register the girl’s complaint and threatened to assault her, SP Chauhan said maybe the police was talking about beating up the perpetrator. He said the matter would be probed and action taken against those found guilty.

Is it any wonder that Hindus of West UP are resorting to vigilante justice out of sheer desperation?
