Devdutt Pattanaik’s bizarre tweet linking Navratri to Aryan Khan’s arrest

The chicanery and foul-mouthed tirades of Devdutt Pattanaik, self-proclaimed ‘mythologist’, have been on display enough times for all serious commentators and students of Hindu Dharma to give him a wide berth.

Through a recent tweet, Pattanaik again exhibited his propensity to twist sacred Hindu occasions and icons to make political points.

Gauri is often used an epithet for Maa Parvati, the wife of Bhagwan Shiva. During Navratri, Hindus worship the various forms of the divine mother Durga, Mahagauri being one of them.

Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s (nee Chibber) son Aryan is currently in Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail in a drug seizure case. Five other men – Arbaaz Merchant, Ishmeet Chadha, Mohak Jaiswal, Gomit Chopra, Vikrant Chhokar – arrested in the same case are also in the same jail, and two women – Munmun Dhamecha, Nupur Satija – are in Byculla women’s prison. These 8 people were arrested on October 2 when an NCB team raided and seized drugs on a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast.

A total of 20 people, including organisers of the party abroad the cruise and 2 Nigerians, have been arrested in this case since.

The focus of the entire left-liberal lobby has been on Aryan Khan. A well-coordinated PR campaign has been launched to show that he is being ‘targeted’ because he is ‘Muslim superstar’ Shah Rukh Khan’s son.

While ‘journalists’ like Arfa Khanum and Saba Naqvi are spewing outright communal venom, Pattanaik has given his usual demented twist to create sympathy for the Bollywood scion. As per this attention-seeker Hinduphobe, law enforcement agencies should stop arresting people accused of wrong doings during Navratri if their mother’s name happens to match that of the divine mother Durga or one of her many forms!

It is a shame for Hindus that frauds like Pattanaik are feted by many elites of our society as a knowledgeable authority on Hindu Dharma.
