Kerala’s Minister for Sports, Wakf and Haj Pilgrimage, V. Abdurahiman, severely criticised the police. He alleged that the Malappuram district police are unnecessarily increasing the number of cases. The minister said that the police aim to increase the number of registered cases to generate credit (praise/acclaim).
Islamist extremism justifier and Hamas-supporting Popular Front of India’s acting mouthpiece, MediaOne, reported the incident. MediaOne was filled with awe when the Taliban retained power in Afghanistan after the Americans abandoned their military operations in August 2021.
Abdurahiman is from Tirur, Malappuram, and won his MLA seat in Tanur in the same district. Muslims are the majority in Malappuram and constituted around 70% in 2011. The green communist leader showed his true colours while speaking to Malappuram police officers.
Abdurahiman stated that Malappuram is home to more ‘minority’ communities. When more cases are registered, it will create a bad image of Malappuram nationally. The minister alleged that senior officers threaten ordinary police officers to take up cases—incidentally, the Malappuram Addl. Superintendent of Police and two Deputy Superintendents of Police are Muslim officers appointed this month.
The Minister criticised the police at the Malappuram District Conference of the Police Officers Association. In Malappuram, there are allegations that the police are working against the government policy, said Abdurahiman. He declared that the police should treat the people gently and respectfully.
After the minister left the stage, the district police chief, Sasidharan S IPS, replied to the minister’s allegations. He responded that cases are not registered unnecessarily and it is good that the police are taking up cases.
HinduPost has documented several criminal cases from Malappuram involving atrocities against Hindus, grooming/narcotic jihad, POCSO cases involving madrassas and gold smuggling through Karipur International Airport.
According to a 2022 survey, Kerala has three of the world’s top ten fastest-growing urban areas. While Malappuram tops the list, neighbouring Kozhikode is fourth. Malappuram saw a 44.1% increase in population between 2015 and 2020. The metropolitan population of Malappuram was barely 3 lakh in 2001, but it grew to 16 lakh in 2011.
As per the 2011 census, there were 30 lakh Muslims and only around 82,000 (1.98%) Christians. While the total population was around 41 lakhs, around 11 lakh Hindus called Malappuram their home district.
Muslim domination is such that most establishments remain shut on Fridays, and one finds a mosque/madrassa every few meters. Population jihad is evident throughout the district.
Abdurahiman was a Congress Leader and a businessman. He held various positions, including that of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee executive committee member. He joined the Communists in 2014 and contested as an LDF independent candidate.
In late 2020, following reports of corruption and nepotism, Abdurahiman made anti-Vanvasi remarks during a press conference. Abdurahiman cautioned his fellow legislator, C. Mammutty (an Indian Union Muslim League MLA), who brought out the allegations.
Those who come from ‘Adivasi’ lands should not try to educate the people of Tirur (Malappuram), said Abdurahiman. Go to the Adivasis and enlighten them. Though Mammutty is from the Vellamunda Panchayat in the Wayanad district, he represents the Tirur constituency (Abdurahiman’s hometown).
Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman made insensitive remarks following his decision to increase the entertainment tax to 12 per cent on tickets to the Bharat-Sri Lanka one-day international (ODI) at Thiruvananthapuram Karyavattom Cricket Ground in January 2023. He suggested that people who are starving and unable to afford the ticket tax should avoid the match.
(BJP) State president K. Surendran said Abdurahiman should remember that the game was not an IPL auction where only the wealthy could participate. Including GST, the total tax that an ordinary spectator paid rose to 30%. Abdurahiman rejected public calls to reduce the levy.
Like CM Pinarayi Vijayan and Sonia Gandhi, Abdurahiman flies to 5-star private hospitals in America to treat unknown diseases. Though Abdurahiman is the wealthiest minister in Kerala, the state pays for his medical expenses.
Abdurahiman allegedly belongs to a caucus that includes Kerala Tourism Minister P. A. Mohammed Riyas (Vijayan’s son-in-law) and ex-Waqf and Haj Minister KT Jaleel. All four are Malabar natives.
