Many Hindu families of the Murshidabad district have become refugees suddenly. They were forced to leave their homes and fled to neighbouring Maldah district. Those Hindu families are now staying in a government run School.
From the relief camp, Hindu women have made serious allegations against the TMC leaders and Islamist. Hindu women alleged that Islamists did violence with the support of the local TMC leaders who are muslims.
A Hindu woman said, “We have nothing left. All things were burnt by them. They burnt rice, clothes and everything. If BSF was not there, we couldn’t even flee.”
Another Hindu woman said, “I have nothing left except the clothe I’m wearing. They looted everything and then burnt the house by pouring petrol.”
“We have not eaten for two days. Children are hungry. We even couldn’t get drinking water as they put poison in the water tank,” alleged another Hindu woman.
Another Hindu woman describe her horrific experience, “They vandalised everything. They placed knife on my neck and took all my gold ornaments. To save my children, I have no option left.”
Right now, thousands of Hindus of Murshidabad district have become refugees and have taken shelter in the Maldah district. Hindus reached the Maldah district by crossing the Ganges river by boats. Sub Divisional Officer of Baishnabnagar visited the refugee camp and handed some relief materials to the affected Hindus such as clothes and some foods.
However, many Hindu families have left their homes. Many Hindu villages are almost empty. Those who have not left, are planning to leave their ancestral homes.
