Pakistan: Unemployment and hunger drive Hindu farmer and his three children to suicide in Umerkot

In a shocking incident in Umerkot, Pakistan, a father and his three young sons were discovered hanging from a tree inside a mango orchard, raising serious concerns and prompting widespread calls for a detailed investigation. The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the local community and across social media, where users are questioning the circumstances surrounding the alleged suicide.

Based on the reports from the Free Press Journal, the incident took place in the Bhodar Farm area of Umerkot, near the Kunri region. The victims have been identified as Chaman Kohli, a 32-year-old father, and his three minor sons. According to initial reports, Kohli allegedly took his life along with his children following a domestic dispute. Local police responded to the scene after receiving information about the grim discovery and have since taken the bodies into custody, sending them for post-mortem examinations at a nearby hospital.

Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation into the deaths. However, growing skepticism surrounds the incident, with many internet users questioning how such a tragedy could unfold without resistance from the young boys. One user pointed out, “It is hard to believe that the boys did not show any fear or resistance during such a horrific act. Despite the area’s bustling nature, no one seemed to have intervened, raising doubts about the police’s conclusion that this was a suicide.”

Although suicide cases have been reported in Umerkot and nearby areas, this particular case has left many unsettled. Calls for a deeper probe into the matter are growing louder, with demands for authorities to thoroughly investigate all angles before drawing any final conclusions.

In Pakistan, where Hindus face severe persecution, survival has become a daily struggle. In a tragic incident in Umerkot, Sindh, starving Hindu farmer Chaman Kohli, along with his three children, took his own life due to poverty and unemployment. For the Hindu minority, finding stable jobs or enough food to sustain their families is a distant reality. Targeted discrimination has pushed many to the brink, leaving them with no hope or means to survive in a country where their livelihoods are systematically taken away.

The tragic suicide of Chaman Kohli and his three children highlights the severe hardships faced by the Hindu minority in Pakistan. For many Hindus in Pakistan, especially those living in rural areas, poverty, unemployment, and social exclusion are daily realities. They often struggle to find decent jobs and secure enough income to provide for their families, as systemic discrimination leaves them marginalized and oppressed. The lack of opportunities and constant persecution push many into despair, leaving them with little hope for a better future.

This tragic incident is a stark reminder of how unsafe and hostile Pakistan has become for its Hindu minority, where economic deprivation and religious discrimination combine to strip them of basic human dignity and security. The systematic targeting of Hindus, whether through violence, forced conversions, or economic exploitation, has created an environment where survival itself becomes an unbearable struggle, forcing many like Chaman Kohli to take extreme steps. It is clear that Pakistan is far from providing a safe or equitable existence for its Hindu population.

  1. Why did you cover their faces?! It’s a shame because first time when I saw the article probably after the tragedy, I saw their faces. Why did you cover the photo?
