A Muslim woman from Bareilly is facing death threats after marrying a Hindu man. The woman has embraced Hindu dharma and is being threatened by her family and Muslim leaders. She claimed that even the police are causing problems instead of helping her.

A 21-year-old Muslim woman, Lubna Shahzeen from Bareilly in UP had embraced Hindu dharma to marry a Hindu man. On May 20 she underwent Ghar wapsi at Agastya Muni Ashram in Bamanouri, changed her name to Arohi, and married Bobby Kashyap from her neighborhood. Both were in a relationship for the past two years but couldn’t get married as their families were against it. However, the groom’s family was convinced by a pujari Shankdhar. Later they got married on May 20 and it was solemnized by Shankdhar.

Now the woman has expressed fear for her life as she is getting threats from her family members and Muslim leaders. Even the pujari is being threatened, she told TOI. She alleged that police are also causing problems for her in a video she posted on social media. She requested the concerned authorities to take her complaint seriously and provide security.

The couple is said to have approached the Allahabad High Court seeking protection. Police said that the woman’s father had filed a missing complaint on May 19 and that they informed him about his daughter after she posted the video on social media. The couple is reportedly currently not in Bareilly and police have assured protection once they return.

Aarohi said that she was bothered about the atrocities being done to the women of the Muslim community. She was upset about oppressive things like hijab, triple talaq, and nikah halala. In the video, she said that her life has changed after meeting, falling in love with, and marrying Bobby.
