Muslim teachers and students have reportedly ganged up against the Hindu Principal of Agra’s Smt Joy Harris Girls Inter College in a bid to eliminate her from the college management board. The victim has been identified as Mamta Dixit who put out a video message in which she highlighted that she was being targeted on account of her being a Hindu.

In the video, Mamta, who is literally in tears while narrating her ordeal, alleged that Muslim teachers were conspiring to get her removed from the principal’s post. “Today they made students shout slogans of Mamta Dixit leave the chair for two hours. They are propagating one particular political ideology among the students. My life has been turned into hell. I have been left with no option but to commit suicide,” she said.

It must be pointed out that it is a government school where Muslim students are in majority. On account of their majority, they have been demanding the imposition of the hijab. Mamta has named Rehana Khatun as the main person behind the conspiracy targeting her. She said a total of nine teachers were against her. According to Mamta, she is being harassed because Khatun wants to become the principal. Khatun even instigated around 200 Muslim girls to protest against Mamta and demand a Muslim principal.

Mamta emphasized that students were made to level all kinds of allegations against her in a bid to mentally torture her. Mamta further alleged teachers also write to the DM and CM with imaginary complaints. Mamta accused Muslim teachers of forcing students to wear hijabs inside the school.

“Reportedly, the Islamist teachers are also forcing the management to remove the photo frame of Goddess Saraswati from the college room to replace it with a Mecca Madina frame. They (Islamist teachers) come to my cabin and threaten me to take down the photo of Goddess Saraswati. They have been harassing me for 2 years now, she said in another video released on Saturday”, noted OpIndia.

“Most of these teachers are residents of Sarai Khwaja. They are instigating the Muslim girls from the college against me and are also gathering Muslim boys outside the school”, Mamta said. The incident reportedly took place on September 15 but came to light after Mamta posted her video on social media.

As per reports, the school management has taken cognizance of the matter after the video went viral on social media. The management has issued notices to Muslim teachers in this regard. The accused teachers have not yet responded to the harassment charges levelled against them. Students have also been instructed to attend classes only in uniforms.

Lal Bahadur, a member of the managing committee, stated that a meeting was held to hear both parties adding the dispute had been solved. He further emphasized that orders had been issued to run the college with discipline and no indiscipline should be tolerated. The management committee held two meetings on September 19 and 26 to discuss the issue.

However, joint director RP Sharma denied knowledge of any such incident. “If the principal is being harassed for belonging to the Hindu religion, strict action will be taken against the accused teachers. The case will be considered and a committee will be formed to look into the matter”, Sharma said.

“Initially there was the issue of high fees. Then the personal complaints escalated and a video of the principal became viral. We’ll resolve this through a meeting with the management. As far as the complaint about the burqa is concerned, we examined the footage of 2 days, and no such complaint could be established”, stated Manoj Kumar, District Inspector of Schools.

Principal Mamta Dixit has requested CM Yogi Adityanath to investigate the issue as well. In the meanwhile, Dr GS Dharmesh, a BJP MLA from Agra and a former UP minister, visited the school on Saturday (October 1) to discuss the problem with the Principal. The MLA also took up the matter with district administration and education department authorities requesting them to resolve the issue quickly and at the same time maintain the school’s calm environment.
