The “Hindu Leaders of Tomorrow” Conference Addresses Controversial Issues that Affect Hindu Youth

Hindu Students Council (HSC) is hosting its first virtual conference, the Hindu Leaders of Tomorrow (HLT) Conference, on August 29-30, 2020, in partnership with Hindu University of America.

This initiative is a weekend experience that will bring together college and high school students and community members virtually from all over North America to connect and engage with prominent Hindu leaders and experts.

“I truly believe HLT is a revolutionary conference in North America. It is going to be an interactive platform that will educate the youth to become more empowered, effective leaders for tomorrow on topics that will challenge them to think more deeply about myriad of issues that face our society today, i.e., mental health, sustainability, education and more,” says Sapna Rajani, member of the HSC leadership team.

The conference includes four expert panels on the following topics: Education, Hinduphobia, Social Justice Issues and Mental Health. Panelists include noted Hindu leaders, including Kalyan Viswanathan, Indu Vishwanathan, Neha Srivastava, Krishna Maheshwari, Avatans Kumar, Niki Shah, Vindhya Adapa, Ravi Jaishankar, and Dr. Darshan Mehta.

The conference includes two workshops. On Saturday, Professor of Media Studies at the University of San Francisco Vamsee Juluri will be leading a workshop on deconstructing media bias. On Sunday, Parth Parihar, Director of Advocacy at HSC will lead a workshop on how to address misconception about Hindu dharma. The workshops will be interactive and will provide opportunities for the participants to engage with the presenters.

“HUA is happy to partner with Hindu Leaders of Tomorrow in initiating a platform for constructive dialogue from a dharmic perspective. It is our hope that the young people participating in this conference will engage with the social issues impacting them and the Hindu community from a place of deep learning and scholarship,” Kalyan Viswanathan, President of HUA.

Each day, youth will be presented with opportunities to discuss social issues impacting them, to engage in constructive dialogue with one another, to build leadership skills, and to gain inspiration through stories of other Hindus who have broken barriers for the Hindu community.

The event will provide an engaging learning experience in the presence of change makers, influencers and highly successful experts from various fields and diverse backgrounds.

‘Hindu Leaders of Tomorrow’ is a platform to represent the voices of Hindu youth and community members in various social, cultural, political and philosophical spheres. The conference organizing committee welcomes people of all ages, ethnicity, backgrounds, and affiliations to attend the conference.
