Two new grooming cases from UP highlights the importance of the anti-grooming law

Grooming cases are on the rise despite the secular attempt to dismiss them as a figment of the imagination. Two recent cases from Uttar Pradesh which passed a special law against grooming (love jihad) highlights why such a law is the need of the hour.

The UP police have registered FIR against 8 persons and arrested the brother and brother-in-law of the accused in a case of grooming a minor in the Tambor police jurisdiction of UP’s Sitapur. Reports indicate that the minor girl was abducted and was being pressurized to convert to Islam.

As per available information, a minor girl was abducted by a few men about a week ago. The family members of the girl had approached the police and registered a case of abduction. In her statement, the girl’s mother alleged that cash is also missing from their home.

Accordingly, the police registered a case against unknown persons on the basis of the statement issued by the girl’s mother. Her father, however, later named Jubrail, his brother Israel, brother-in-law Usman and his other colleagues. He also lodged a complaint on IGRS. The father alleged that Jubrail and his family have kidnapped his minor daughter and now she is being taken to be forcibly converted to Islam.

Following investigations in the case, the police have issued a statement saying that some of the accused have been arrested while others are absconding and would be caught soon. Based on their investigation, the police have amended the original FIR and included additional sections under the new anti-grooming law. The police reached the victim’s village on Friday. The brother and brother-in-law of the main accused in the case have been arrested and sent to jail.

This comes close on the heels of another grooming case in which a person named Mohammed Sonu was arrested for trapping a Hindu girl in the name of love by identifying himself as a Hindu guy Sonu. He was arrested by the UP  police when the two had reached the court to get married. The lawyers informed the family members of the girl who reached the court.

The girl in her statement to the media the girl stated that Mohammed hid his Muslim identity and stated that he was a Hindu and his name was Sonu. He expressed his desire to marry her and the two reached the court for the same. She said that the two had been in touch for sometime after which he said that the two would get married in court. The girl said that she realized he was a Muslim and not a Hindu from the manner in which he communicated with his family members as he always used the Islamic salutation (assalam walekum) while speaking with them.

Both these cases provide ample proof as to why a law against grooming is the need of the hour even though the liberal secular cabal, which is far removed from ground realities, wants to brush the entire issue under the carpet.
