Islamist Safiq accused of deceiving a Hindu woman, forcing conversion, and fleeing with cash and gold: Bagalkot, KA

A disturbing case has emerged from Bagalkot district in Karnataka, where an Islamist man, Safiq, has been accused of deceiving a Hindu woman into marriage, forcing her to convert to Islam, and later fleeing with her cash and gold ornaments. Acting on the complaint filed by the victim, Bagalkot Superintendent of Police Siddharth Goyal has directed officials to register a case against the accused and initiate an investigation.

According to the complaint, the victim, a married Hindu woman and a mother of two, had come to Mudhol for work when she came into contact with an Islamist man identified as Safiq Patel. As per Sanatan Prabhat reports, despite already having two wives, Safiq allegedly lured the woman into a relationship by professing love and later pressured and threatened her into converting to Islam before marrying him.

However, soon after the marriage, the accused Islamist allegedly betrayed the woman. Reports state that Safiq took ₹4 lakh in cash and about 4 tolas of gold ornaments belonging to the woman, then absconded and returned to his first wife. The Hindu victim, realizing she had been deceived and financially exploited, approached the police and lodged a complaint.

Reacting to the incident, several Hindu organizations strongly criticized the state administration, alleging that cases involving the deception and exploitation of Hindu women are not being addressed with the seriousness they deserve. In a post on social media, Sanatan Prabhat questioned whether justice could truly be expected for victimized Hindus under the present Congress government in Karnataka and called for stronger measures to prevent such incidents. The group argued that repeated cases of alleged deception in the name of relationships highlight the need for stricter laws and firm action to protect women and ensure justice for victims.
