Leave the Mandirs or face the Protest, VHP tells AP Govt

Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) National Joint General Secretary Dr. Surendra Jain asked AP government to hand over all the temples, including the highly celebrated Tirupati Balaji, to the Hindu society! ‘Secular’ Governments, political persons and non-Hindus have no business in possessing Hindu ‘Devasthanams’ and have no role in their management!

He said that the Hindus of the world, are upset and angry with the kind of news that came that the sacrosanct status of the Maha-prasad available from the great pilgrimage site of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) was unpardonably compromised! Let alone the safety and sanctity of beliefs, even the safety and security of temples has come under threat. Many temples and Hindu festivities in Andhra Pradesh were attacked by Jihadis, but unfortunately no strict action has yet been taken against the culprits.

Such unfortunate news of messing around with Hindu belief has been received from many places. Most of these Devasthanams (temples) are run by the ‘secular’ governments themselves. Our beliefs, can be respected only when they are managed by the Hindu society itself.

Dr Jain said that there have been many reports of misapplication of the Dev Rashi (Pranami money) offered by Hindus with utmost devotion in many temples, including Tirupati Balaji temple, controlled by the government, government officials and politicians. There have also been reports of grants being given from this deity’s funds to organizations who have long been trying to convert Hindus or destroy the Hindu society. The Hindu society is very upset that the Pranami money of the Hindu society is being ill used to nurse and fatten those whose agenda is to terminate the Sanatana Hindu Dharma. Hindu beliefs, have also been interfered and meddled with by appointing many non-Hindus in the management of government controlled temples, including Tirupati Balaji.

He said that the control of ‘sacred’ temples  by the ‘secular’ government is not only unconstitutional but also trivialising and damaging Hindu Aastha/beliefs. The honourable judiciary has clarified in many cases that the government should stay away from the management of temples and their properties. The control of temples by the government is a blatant violation of Articles 12, 25 and 26 of the Constitution of Bharat.

VHP alleged that the governments occupying the temples have been suffering from colonial mentality. Muslim invaders looted, desecrated and destroyed the temples. The British cleverly established control over them and institutionalised a system of perennial robbing. Secular political parties that have covenanted and sworn to finish and ensure expiration of Sanatana (eternal) Dharma, fill their coffers by ransacking the income and property of the temples of Sanatanis and also try to realize the anti-Sanatan agenda. “Hindu property should be used only for Hindu works”. Many works for the welfare of Hindus and the upliftment of the great Hindu culture should have been done from the income of these temples, which have been completely neglected till now.

It is unfortunate that even after 77 years of independence, Hindus are being deprived of the right to run their temples. Minorities are allowed to run their religious institutions, but why is this constitutional right not being given to the Hindu society whereas, the Hindu society is efficiently running its lakhs of temples? The contribution of these temples has always been very important in times of social and national disaster. There is a strong voice of Hindu society that temples should be “socialized and not governmentized”.

Hindu society demands from Andhra Pradesh government that:*

1. All Hindu temples, including Tirupati Balaji, should be freed from government control and handed over to Hindu saints and devotees under a certain system. The format of this system has been determined by revered saints after many years of contemplation and cogitation.

2. The non-believers / non-Hindus appointed in the management and operation of Hindu temples should be removed immediately and it should be ordered that no non-Hindu and politician would ever be appointed in the management of a temple.

3. It should be ensured that no shop selling food/eatables and drinkables, Prasad (blessed food) or worship paraphernalia and materials, is owned and/or operated by a non-Hindu near Hindu temples.

4. Strictest action should be taken against Jihadis and other criminals who attack Hindu temples and programmes so that no one can even think of attacking Hindus in future.

VHP warned that the national society of Bharat, that is, the Hindu society, is upset and angry about these issues and if these demands are not met, then the Hindu society of Andhra Pradesh will hold a massive protest in Vijayawada on 05th January 2025 to express and register their resolve. Even after this, if Hindu temples are not freed from government control and the demands of the Hindu society are not accepted, then an intensive and extensive mass movement will be started.

  1. 1) If temples are set free it is still difficult to at least stop cryptos in the panels.
    2) Rhetoric and repetition apart what are the precautions to ensure that the panel will surely have Dalit, ST members along with Brahmins and the moneyed trustees ?
