“I razed 100 year old temples”, DMK MP proudly claims in event supporting Sethusamudram project

DMK MP and former union Minister of Shipping TR Balu has proudly said that he demolished temples and damaged holy rivers and yet god did not do anything to him. He said this in a meeting organised by Dravidar Kazhagam in support of the Sethusamudram project by destroying the Ram Setu bridge. He also said that he knows how to garner votes even though he does anti-Hindu things often.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin had moved a resolution in the legislative assembly to initiate the Sethusamudram  project. Despite many objections raised on the floor itself, DMK and Dravidianist organisations continue to lobby for the project claiming that it will bring economic prosperity to South Tamil Nadu. Dravidar Kazhagam, DMK’s mother organisation had organised a meeting in Madurai to urge the government to initiate the project without delay.

The usual rabid Hindu haters Dravidar Kazhagam chief K Veeramani, VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan, Congress chief KS Alagiri and Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiyagarajan were in attendance along with Lok Sabha MP TR Balu. Balu abused Hindu beliefs and proudly said that he had demolished 100 year old temples of Lakshmi, Saraswati and Parvati and yet the gods didn’t do anything to him.

He said, “3 teerths in Rameshwaram temple were shifted from their original place without even hearing public opinion. Did it hurt religious sentiments? I demolished 100 year old temples of Lakshmi, Saraswati and Parvati on GST road in my constituency (Sriperumbudur). Many told me that I will not get votes because of this. I know that myself. But I know very well how to buy and garner votes. I also detonated rivers Ganga, Cauvery and Kollidam (a tributary of Cauvery on whose banks Srirangam Ranganatha Swamy temple is located) and built bridges. God didn’t do anything to me. If people really believe that Ram Setu is real shouldn’t there be a revolution against the project now?”

Ironically he talked of “his dharma” saying he will chop off the hands of anyone who dares to touch his leader(MK Stalin) or Aiyya(K Veeramani). From the moment the Sethusamudram project was proposed during the UPA era, DMK has been hurting Hindu sentiments in the name of rationalism. Late DMK chief and CM’s father M Karunanidhi said, “There is no history that talks about the existence of Ram or that he studied engineering or that he built a bridge for that matter. (Laughing) Is there?”.

TR Balu and others are only following in his and EV Ramasamy’s footsteps in abusing Hindu beliefs. Late TN CM J Jayalalithaa had opposed the project when it was proposed and said that DMK is supporting it because of its interest in shipping firms. She alleged that TR Balu’s family members and Kanimozhi own shares in shipping and logistics companies.

TN BJP President K Annamalai shared the video of TR Balu boasts about demolishing temples on Twitter and said that this is the very reason BJP wants to dissolve the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department and free temples from the clutches of the government.
