Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.
In this weekly summary for the period from 12 July to 18 July 2026, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:
Bharat
1) After multiple cases of alleged love jihad, targeted Islamic conversions across Karnataka, a fresh controversy has emerged with Hindu organizations alleging and exposing the existence of a gym jihad network. The allegations center around an Islamist gym trainer identified as Ismail, who is accused of targeting Hindu women visiting gyms under the guise of fitness training.
2) A major security lapse has been exposed in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapura, after two Pakistani nationals, Farah Naz and her son Fardeen, were arrested for allegedly fraudulently obtaining Bharatiya identity documents, including voter ID cards and ration cards, by suppressing their nationality. Karnataka Police have arrested Farah Naz, a Pakistani national, and her son Mohammed Fardeen for allegedly obtaining Bharatiya ration cards and voter identity cards by concealing their Pakistani nationality. This is a major internal security threat.
3) A 35-year-old meat trader from Uttar Pradesh was arrested under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for reportedly molesting a minor Hindu girl inside his shop at Jakhnidhar market in Uttarakhand’s Tehri Garhwal district, triggering massive public outrage and protests by Hindu organisations that arrived at the local police station demanding stricter action.
4) In a significant development highlighting the ongoing enforcement of Uttar Pradesh’s anti-conversion legislation, the Mirganj police have arrested a 51-year-old Christian missionary on charges of attempting to convert Hindus through inducement and derogatory remarks against Hindu deities. The accused, identified as Prempal (51), son of Patiram, a resident of Bhudasi village under the Sisgarh police station area, was apprehended following a complaint lodged by a local resident. He was subsequently produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.
5) Hindu Munnani has strongly criticised the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers’ and Artists’ Association (Tamil Nadu Murpokku Ezhuthalar Kalaignargal Sangam) over its resolution opposing the Madras High Court’s order permitting the lighting of the traditional Maha Deepam atop the Thirupparankundram hill. The organization alleged that, under the banner of a progressive writers’ association, the group was consistently expressing views against Hindu Dharma. It stated that the demand to light the Maha Deepam atop the Thirupparankundram hill reflected the wishes of Murugan devotees belonging to the majority community in Tamil Nadu.
6) A criminal complaint brought against a dietician named Afeefa Fathima has been dismissed by the Karnataka High Court. She was booked for passing deeply disparaging slurs about Hindus and sharing anti-Bharat sentiments on social media. Her criminal petition was accepted and the First Information Report (FIR) lodged against her was quashed by Justice M Nagaprasanna.
7) A wave of anguish and anger swept through Amblikoppa village in Dharwad taluk after miscreants vandalised the murti of Bhagwan Beeralingeshwara, a sacred object of worship for locals. For villagers, the incident was not merely an act of destruction but a direct attack on their religious faith, devotional life, and the sanctity of a site that had long held spiritual significance for the community.
8) Bharat reclaiming its legacy is ‘Hindu majoritarianism’ but Pakistan appropriating its pre-Islamic heritage is ‘maturity’ according to The Wire known for its Hindudvesh. Pakistan’s sinister pursuits have found a supporter in Islamo-leftist rag The Wire. The author weaves a narrative that somehow, Pakistan’s newfound love for its pre-Islamic and pre-partition past as a sign of ‘maturity’ and ‘correction of history’ while the Modi government’s renaming drive is ‘ideological positioning’, ‘curation of history’, and everything abominable.
9) The district of Ahilyanagar (formerly Ahmednagar) in Maharashtra stands at a critical juncture as Hindutva activist and Rashtriya Shriram Sewa Sangh founder Sagar Beg faces what intelligence sources describe as a critical level threat to his life. The situation has escalated dramatically following the murder of German Bakery blast co-accused Bunty Jahagirdar last December, with allegations of a coordinated conspiracy involving influential local political figures and suspected terror-linked individuals.
10) As Telugu cinema prepares to present Jr NTR in a grand epic centered on Bhagwan Muruga celebrating him as the divine commander of the celestial armies, another narrative is emerging from a very different ideological camp. This narrative denying His divinity is being set by Leftist-Dravidianist Maoist Glorifier Vetri Maaran and actor Dhanush is set to play the lead in this movie. It must be mentioned that Vetri Maaran is an EVR fan boy.
11) Hindu Munnani has submitted a petition to the Pudukkottai District Collector alleging that a centuries-old temple and its surrounding lands at Lingamalai in Viralimalai taluk are under sustained encroachment and claiming that attempts are being made to rename the hill as “Saveriyar Malai.” According to the petition, Lingamalai, located in Malampatti village under Viralimalai Union in Pudukkottai district, is home to a 400-year-old Shiva temple, which historical accounts attribute to King Azhagiya Manavala Devan.
Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
