Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.
In this weekly summary for the period from 19 April to 25 April 2026, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken 8more people around the world to this human rights crisis:
Bharat
1) The Print has published an opinion piece titled “How Ayyappa went from a local forest deity to Kerala’s most controversial God,” authored by Anirudh Kanisetti. The headline alone frames Bhagwan Ayyappa — revered by millions as the celibate warrior deity Dharmasastha, Hariharasuthan (son of Hari and Hara, i.e., Vishnu and Shiva), and the epitome of dharma and ascetic discipline — as inherently “controversial.” It is a loaded Leftist framing that reduces a deeply sacred figure in the Hindu pantheon to a subject of modern political contention, made intentionally/unintentionally to delegitimize Hindu traditions.
2) A “Changai – faith healing” congregation in a remote village of Madhya Pradesh (MP) has led to the arrest of two pastors allegedly associated with the lesser-known ‘Light of Jesus Church’ and has sparked a wider police investigation into an alleged religious conversion network operating in the region.
3) In the wake of the controversy surrounding the Samir Mulla case, another disturbing incident has come to light in Hubballi, where a young woman has accused a man of rape, blackmail, and sustained sexual exploitation. According to the complaint filed at the Keshwapur Police Station, the accused Islamist, identified as Mufees Miyanavar, allegedly befriended the Hindu victim under the pretext of a relationship. The woman has alleged that Mufees Miyanavar subjected her to repeated sexual assault while manipulating and coercing her over time.
4) In what can be seen as an audacious statement, Catholic priest Fr. Paul Thelakkatt openly questioned why “tons of gold” in temples are not used for public service while defending Christian institutions over foreign funding scrutiny. The remarks, made in response to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) bill introduced in the Lok Sabha, surfaced in a video clip shared by Mathrubhumi and have since drawn strong reactions.
5) A woman employee at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Nashik has levelled serious allegations of isolation, coercion, and psychological pressure within the workplace, describing what she believes was a deliberate pattern of targeting young women employees.
6) A Bhopal-linked case that has unfolded across Ashoknagar and the state capital has drawn attention because investigators say three minor Hindu girls were allegedly lured, sexually assaulted, and pressured into conversion and marriage. The police probe has also widened to include claims of drug use, blackmail, and a network of shared contacts used to target vulnerable Hindu girls.
7) MP’s Indore has become the latest flashpoint in a disturbing alleged exploitation case in which a 19-year-old private college student has accused a Muslim man of posing as a Hindu, drugging her, sexually assaulting her, blackmailing her with objectionable videos, and repeatedly pressuring her to convert to Islam and marry him. The complaint, which surfaced in April 2026, has triggered a police investigation and renewed public debate over coercion, identity fraud and religious conversion allegations in MP.
8) Nagpur police have arrested NGO operator Riyaz Kazi after allegations that he used social service work as a cover to pressure Hindu women into religious conversion and harassment, with Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad now examining possible funding and network links behind the case. The case has drawn wider attention because investigators say it appears similar in pattern to the recent Nashik TCS-linked controversy, where conversion and sexual exploitation allegations also triggered a major probe.
9) In Gurugram, a coaching center operator, Asif Mohammad, stands accused of repeatedly sexually exploiting a 26-year-old Hindu student under the guise of language training. According to the victim’s family, Islamist Asif Mohammad allegedly trapped her in a manipulative relationship during coaching sessions, subjected her to sexual abuse, and forced her to undergo two abortions through threats and coercion. The family further alleges that he has isolated her and prevented her from maintaining contact with them.
Bangladesh
Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are relentless and designed to cleanse the religious minority from the country gradually. According to a study by Prof. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, no Hindus will be left in Bangladesh by 2050 due to systemic and institutionalized persecution. Temple desecration, land grabbing, mob attacks after false blasphemy charges, rape/forced conversion of women, and hate speech are tools used to intimidate and drive Hindus out.
1) Tension gripped Birganj upazila of Dinajpur district following an alleged attack on an indigenous Janajatiya community and the vandalism of a Mandir in Ghorabanda village under Poltapur Union. According to local sources, a group of approximately 150 to 200 Islamists, reportedly led by Rezaul, son of Kader, and Azad, son of Azgar Sahaji, carried out the attack in the Sonka Christian Para area. The Islamists allegedly vandalized a Kali temple located at a cremation ground belonging to the Janajatiya community, breaking the Murti of Goddess Kali and discarding it in a nearby cornfield.
2) A Hindu Sadhu who had been missing for three days was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hilly area of Cox’s Bazar district, police said. The deceased, identified as Nayan Das (35), was a resident of Dohazari area under Satkania Upazila of Chattogram district and served as a priest (sebait) at a local temple in Khurushkul union under Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila.
World
1) Dubious ‘research’ by groups like USCIRF, Savera, CSOH, HfHR, Equality Labs, are fueling demonization of Hindu diaspora and Bharat in USA.
Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
We request all readers to share other anti-Hindu hate crimes that we might have missed in this period in the comments below or by emailing [email protected]. We also solicit support in maintaining the Hindu human rights tracker database.
