Hindus Under Attack: A Weekly Roundup of Hate Crimes, Persecution, and Discrimination Against Hindus

Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.

In this weekly summary for the period from 12 April to 18 April 2026, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken 8more people around the world to this human rights crisis:

Bharat

1) A disturbing case from Koppal has intensified concerns over alleged love jihad incidents in Karnataka, following similar reports from Hubballi. The situation has taken a dramatic turn after the Hindu woman’s counter-complaint complicated the narrative. VHP leader Sangamesh Hiremath initially filed a complaint at the women’s police station in Koppal. He accused an Islamist youth named Musthafa of targeting Hindu girls, engaging in inappropriate interactions, and storing explicit content on his mobile phones. Police sources indicate that two phones recovered from the accused Islamist allegedly contain around 7,000 photos and 9,700 videos, including obscene material involving multiple young women.

2) The shocking revelations from Tata Consultancy Services in Nashik have exposed a deeply disturbing pattern of sexual exploitation, coercion, and abuse of trust within a corporate environment. What should have been a safe workplace for young professionals became a space where vulnerability was exploited and voices were silenced.

3) Dalit woman was the first victim in Nashik TCS conversion-sexual exploitation racket. The case highlights how ‘caste warriors’ abandon performative Dalit activism when accused are Muslims.

4) In a disturbing case that highlights how young Hindu girls are being increasingly targeted, trapped, and sexually exploited in the digital space, police have arrested Mohammad Ayaz Tanveer (19) for allegedly operating a sexual exploitation and blackmail racket in Maharashtra’s Amravati district. The accused has been remanded to police custody until April 21 as investigators continue to uncover the scale of the crime.

5) 19-year-old Bhoomika Tippannavar died by suicide in the Bagalkote district of Karnataka after being trapped in a relationship with an Islamist youth, Dongrisab Nadaf, triggering a serious issue of love jihad and targeted assault. According to preliminary information, her family had strongly opposed her relationship due to religious differences.

6) Zuhaib brutally attacked a Hindu model in public after she rejected his marriage and conversion demands. The incident occurred in Bengaluru’s Frazer Town area and has now been added to a growing list of cases that have sparked allegations of coercion and targeted harassment across the state. The victim, a model by profession, had initially met Islamist Zuhaib through work-related assignments. What began as a professional association gradually turned into a personal acquaintance. However, from 2024 onwards, the accused Islamist allegedly began persistently pressuring her to marry him.

7) The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested four radicalised youths from three states, two from Maharashtra, one from Odisha and one from Bihar, in connection with an alleged conspiracy to carry out terrorist activities inspired by Islamist ideology. According to an official statement from the Delhi Police, the suspects were motivated by calls to establish a Caliphate and believed in the emergence of a “Lashkar-e-Khorasan” (an army emerging from Khorasan) flying black flags. They were reportedly preparing to participate in “Ghazwa-e-Hind”, a concept associated with jihadist groups seeking to wage war in the Bharatiya subcontinent.

Bangladesh

Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are relentless and designed to cleanse the religious minority from the country gradually. According to a study by Prof. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, no Hindus will be left in Bangladesh by 2050 due to systemic and institutionalized persecution. Temple desecration, land grabbing, mob attacks after false blasphemy charges, rape/forced conversion of women, and hate speech are tools used to intimidate and drive Hindus out.

1) A mob of approximately 30–50 individuals, conveniently labeled as “unknown miscreants”, carried out coordinated, selective attacks on properties belonging to Hindu families in the South Kamal Kachna Daspara area under Ward Number 24 of Rangpur, vandalising at least 6 homes and 1 shop.

Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
