Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.
In this weekly summary for the period from 15 March to 21 March 2026, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:
Bharat
1) In Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Aligarh, three young men were apprehended at the gate of a degree college for allegedly harassing a Hindu female student, pressuring her for marriage and religious conversion. The victim had been repeatedly followed and intimidated by the three Muslim youths, who insisted on nikah (Islamic marriage) and conversion to Islam. Her uncle intervened decisively at the college gate, capturing the suspects before they could flee. Local reports indicate the harassment persisted over several days, with the accused trailing her from classes to create fear.
2) A young Hindu woman in Noida’s Phase-3 area has alleged that a Muslim man concealed his religious identity, trapped her in a relationship, filmed intimate moments, sexually assaulted her and extorted money over several months, triggering protests over alleged police inaction.
3) In a shocking and brutal incident that has shaken Chitradurga, an Ugadi celebration turned into a scene of horror after an Islamist man allegedly carried out a premeditated acid attack on his estranged wife and her Hindu family members. The accused Islamist, identified as Suhail Basha, reportedly stormed into a house in Malappanahatti village armed with acid and a machete, leaving five people, including a child, severely injured.
4) Fresh tensions have erupted in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal after unidentified miscreants allegedly vandalized the Murti of Devi Kali in the Chunakhali Shyambazar area under the jurisdiction of Murshidabad Police.
5) FIR (First Information Report) filed against a group of Muslims by deliberately choosing a disputed land in Maharashtra’s Pune to break their Ramzan fast.
6) Udupi has witnessed rising tensions ahead of the proposed Christian missionary-led Samadhana Mahotsava scheduled from March 20 to 22, with several Hindu organizations strongly opposing the program. The event, reportedly to be held at the Mission Compound and led by Tamil Nadu-based Christian preacher Mohan C. Lazarus, has triggered widespread concern even before its commencement.
Bangladesh
Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are relentless and designed to cleanse the religious minority from the country gradually. According to a study by Prof. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, no Hindus will be left in Bangladesh by 2050 due to systemic and institutionalized persecution. Temple desecration, land grabbing, mob attacks after false blasphemy charges, rape/forced conversion of women, and hate speech are tools used to intimidate and drive Hindus out.
1) In yet another disturbing incident of violence against the minority community in Bangladesh, 16-year-old Shanto Kumar Saha, was fatally run over following a confrontation with robbers attempting to seize his vehicle. According to reports, Saha was thrown onto the road by the robbers and hit by a moving vehicle, killing him on the spot.
2) In a horrifying incident that has shocked the local community, the headless body of a man was recovered from a remote area in Nesarabad Upazila of Pirojpur. The deceased has been identified as Gopal Chandra Das (45), son of Parimal Chandra Das from Gonpara village under Kashipur Union in Barishal Sadar Upazila.
3) A gruesome murder has sent shockwaves through the quiet rural community of Paikgacha in Khulna, where the mother of a serving police officer was found dead with her throat slit, in what authorities suspect to be a planned and brutal killing. The victim, Bharati Mondal, was discovered dead on Sunday, March 15, after local residents found her body lying inside a fish enclosure near her home in the Putlakhali area under Lata Union of Paikgacha Upazila.
World
1) The UK chapter of Overseas Friends of BJP UK has urged authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and stronger security measures for Hindu cultural gatherings after a disturbance disrupted a Holi celebration in Harrow earlier.
Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
We request all readers to share other anti-Hindu hate crimes that we might have missed in this period in the comments below or by emailing [email protected]. We also solicit support in maintaining the Hindu human rights tracker database.

It’s heartbreaking to read about this series of incidents, especially the cases of violence targeting women and the elderly. Hopefully, the data collected by the Hindu Post can be used as effective advocacy material in the future.
