Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.
In this weekly summary for the period from 08 February to 14 February 2026, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:
Bharat
1) A serious case of alleged sexual abuse by Islamist Zakir Basha Shaik involving nearly 30 minor girl students at a government school in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district has triggered a formal complaint seeking urgent intervention from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). The complaint alleges violations of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, institutional negligence, and political interference in the investigation.
2) A 21-year-old factory worker from Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur, identified as Avesh Khan, has been arrested in Bhopal for allegedly concealing his religious identity, raping a 20-year-old Hindu woman, filming obscene videos of her, and using them to blackmail her over several months, in a case that has sparked fresh controversy around sexual grooming (termed love jihad colloquially in Bharat) in Madhya Pradesh’s capital.
3) A controversy has erupted at the Thiruverkadu Devi Karumariamman Temple near Chennai after lizards and insects were allegedly found inside a purified drinking water dispensing unit installed for devotees within the temple premises administered by Tamil Nadu government’s HR&CE department.
4) A fierce controversy has erupted in Bhopal over allegations of an organised campaign of forced religious conversion within the transgender (kinnar) community, a development that local groups have dubbed “kinnar jihad”. The dispute centres on Mangalwara-based kinnar dera head Suraiya Haji (also reported as Suraiya Nayak), against whom a section of Hindu kinnars and the Kinnar Akhara have levelled serious allegations of coercive conversion to Islam.
5) AIMIM leader Ajfarul Haque alias Prince has been arrested in a high‑profile case from Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district involving allegations of sexual exploitation, forced religious conversion, and trafficking of Hindu women and girls.
6) A young woman from Kasaragod who had recently completed her BSc in Criminology was reportedly trapped in love jihad, left home, and married an Islamist youth, Mohammed Midlaj from Wayanad, despite objections from her parents. The couple was later traced by police in Kerala after a missing persons complaint was filed. The victim was identified as Vaishali from Meepuguri near Madhur in Kasaragod district and belonging to the Billava community, had been studying at Mukka Srinivas College in Mangaluru for the past three years.
7) A Muslim gym trainer in Meerut has been booked and hospitalised after Bajrang Dal (BD) workers accused him of hiding his religious identity while meeting a Hindu woman at a restaurant during Valentine’s week, triggering tensions in the western Uttar Pradesh city. The incident took place in Meerut’s Madhavpuram area, where Sufiyan, a local gym trainer, arrived at a Brahmpuri-based restaurant with a the woman friend to celebrate Valentine’s week. Sufiyan reportedly identified himself as ‘Rahul’ when BD activists questioned him.
Bangladesh
Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are relentless and designed to cleanse the religious minority from the country gradually. According to a study by Prof. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, no Hindus will be left in Bangladesh by 2050 due to systemic and institutionalized persecution. Temple desecration, land grabbing, mob attacks after false blasphemy charges, rape/forced conversion of women, and hate speech are tools used to intimidate and drive Hindus out.
1) A Hindu rice trader was brutally murdered in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh, raising fresh concerns over the security of minority communities in the country. The victim, identified as Sushen Chandra Sarkar (62), was attacked inside his shop at the Bogar Bazar intersection in Trishal on Monday night (9 February). According to local sources, unidentified assailants entered the shop, hacked him to death with sharp weapons, and fled after pulling down the shop shutter.
Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
