Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalized & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.
In this weekly summary for the period from 18 December to 24 December 2022, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:
Bharat
1) Geeta Sharma (55) was shot dead by her Muslim daughter-in-law’s brothers in Delhi. Geeta Sharma’s son Deepak had married a Muslim girl Sitara around 1.5 years back. The girl’s family were not in favour of the marriage, and there used to be frequent arguments between the two on this account. This is what ultimately led to the death of the Hindu woman, who worked as a security guard and was described as a good-natured, helpful woman by neighbours.
2) Islamist brazenness is touching new heights with each passing day. In a disgusting incident which would make any self-aware community hang its head in shame, a man named Wasim was caught on CCTV camera while masturbating to a Hindu girl visiting the Vishweshwar Mahadev temple in Prakash Nagar area of Indore city, Madhya Pradesh.
3) TN HRCE Board officer stole gold coins weighing 30 grams while counting hundi collections. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of HRCE was caught making a woman carry his slippers.
4) Delhi-based Advocate Vineet Jindal has filed a police complaint claiming he received a death threat via Twitter from a Khalistani organisation for repeatedly raising his voice against the anti-nationals.
5) The assault on Hindu Dharma and utter insensitivity to Hindu sensibilities by certain organs of the Indian Republic continue unabated. A historical Ram mandir was recently demolished in Nellore town of AP, part of coastal Andhra – a region which has seen the most aggressive Christian proselytization in the last 2 decades, and where observers claim the real Christian population has now crossed 30%.
6) Dawood was thrashed for molesting and stalking a minor Hindu girl in Mangaluru.
7) Maulvi raped a Hindu SC woman on the pretext of removing jinn. He also sexually abused her minor daughter and murdered her son.
8) Out-on-bail Salim, Aman and Raja stab college student Shuganto Sharma to death over an Instagram reel in UP’s Barabanki.
9) Uddhav faction’s Sushma Andhare spews venom against Hindu deities & saints.
10) DMK ally MP, rabid Hindu hater, Thol Thirumavalavan has written a recommendation letter to Travancore Devasthanam seeking VIP darshan facilities for his followers in Sabarimala Ayyappa Swamy temple. Only a few days ago the anti-Hindu politician had said that building temples are a business.
11) An ISKCON temple in the Birbhum district of West Bengal was burnt down on Friday night, December 16. As per a Hindustan Times Bangla report, the temple in Kendragaria village, Khoyrasol block had been built just 2 months back. Locals say there had been attempts in the past also to burn the temple.
12) In yet another spine-chilling case of grooming & ‘marriage’ followed by a brutal murder, 22-year-old Rubika Pahadin was murdered by Dildar Ansari and his family in the Borio Santhali village of Sahibganj district, Jharkhand.
13) Shamsher alias Monu Khan was arrested for vandalizing the Shivling and murtis of other Bhagwans in an ancient Shiv-Hanuman Mandir. The Mandir is located in Bilwari Mohalla of Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh. The incident occurred late at night on December 18.
14) Lohit district administration allegedly demolished Dangariya Baba Mandir after locals block Christian conversion in Arunachal Pradesh.

16) Missionaries booked in conversion and molestation in MP flee to Kerala with police in pursuit.
17) A Hindu minor was abducted, forcefully converted, ‘married’ & sexually assaulted by Nihal Ansari in UP’s Prayagraj.
18) Four Brazilian nationals have been detained along with a pastor and his wife for trying to convert people in UP. They organised a mass conversion event in which 200 people participated. UP police have written to the embassy seeking to deport the Brazilians for violating the visa norms.
19) Urvi Vaishnav appears to be the latest victim of live-in gone wrong if the allegations by her family members are to be believed. The 27-year-old was found dead in Navi Mumbai and her family has accused her live-in partner Riyaz Khan of killing her.
20) Church is accused of converting minors using intoxicating substances in Andhra Pradesh. LRPF has alleged police inaction.
21) Halal food takes the life of nine-year-old Khyati Singh in Kozhikode NIT.
Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
