Hindu man attacked for giving ride to Muslim woman in Bengaluru

A Hindu man was assaulted in Bengaluru for giving a ride to the Muslim woman working with him. 2 Muslim youngsters involved in the incident have been arrested after the woman lodged a complaint with the police for harassing her. The woman had requested her colleague to drop her at home as it was late and they encountered the stalkers around 9.20 pm near Dairy Circle, Bengaluru.

In a video that went viral in social media, a Muslim woman was seen being harassed by two other men. The men kept asking her why she was riding with the man. In the video, shot by the perpetrators themselves, the two men can be seen questioning the Muslim woman and her colleague in Kannada and Urdu.

They first asked for the man’s name in Kannada. Then they switched to Urdu and asked the woman for her name. After confirming that she is a Muslim they scolded her saying, “Are you not ashamed of riding with a Hindu man? Don’t you know what kind of times we live in? We are asking you all to not go out with these motherf**ers. But you are still riding with him sitting on a bike like this. We are not concerned about you. We are concerned about the burqa. What will people say after seeing a woman in burqa riding like this? Why do you behave like dogs and cats?”.

Throughout the encounter the woman can be seen trying to defend herself and question what concern they have about whom she rides with. The assaulters asked her “What was so important that you have to ride with him? Give me your family’s number” and demand that she give them her family members’ phone number. When they came to know that she is married they made her call up her husband and abused him as well.

The husband assured them that he knew that his wife was riding with her colleague. But the Muslim youth abused him saying, “Because of impotents like you, our whole community is getting ridiculed. Are you not ashamed of your actions?”. When the husband tried to reason with them saying that he knows the Hindu colleague they ridiculed his trust saying, “Don’t you know their intentions? Don’t argue with me”.

They also demanded to know the address of the woman which her husband refused to reveal. Later they forced the woman to take an autorickshaw to her home and warned the Hindu man, “If I see you roaming around with Muslim women, I will f**k you”. After the woman filed a complaint Bengaluru police acted swiftly and arrested the Muslim men who stalked the duo.

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai took note of the issue and assured everyone through Twitter that his government “deals with such incidents with an iron hand”. A few days ago, in a similar incident, a Hindu SC man was assaulted by five muslim men for giving ride to a burqa clad woman in Nizamabad, Telangana. The man was confined for hours and left alone only after the Muslim woman’s brother explained that he asked his sister to ride with him.

Last year in Karnataka, Muslim women were harassed by men for buying clothes in Hindu shops in 2 separate incidents. In those incidents the Muslim men were heard saying, “When jamaats and masjids are telling you, why are you still going to such shops? You don’t understand? Whom do you respect?”. Clearly, Muslims advise their religious brethren to not associate with Hindus in any way except to convert them. However Hindus continue to blindly follow secularism and yet be at the receiving end.
