Deity vandalized in Kali Mandir for second time: Sambhal, UP

The murti in a Maa Kali temple in Gunnaur town of Sambhal district, West UP was vandalized last night. Angry locals lodged a complaint in the police station and demanded prompt action against those responsible.

Mahant Nirmaldas of the Kali mandir situated in Mohalla Sarai locality said that earlier too a different deity in the same temple was desecrated, and someone had tried to break the iron gates of the temple. A complaint was lodged back then too but no action was taken. This had emboldened fanatics to vandalize the temple again.

Such attacks on temples occur frequently across the country and even more brazenly in our neighbouring Islamic nations of Pakistan and Bangladesh. However, unlike the stray incidents in Delhi churches which were woven into a ‘Christians under attack’ narrative by mainstream media and our secular intelligentsia, these sustained attacks on temples are treated as standalone crimes.

But the truth is that temple vandalism is a direct outcome of the bigotry against ‘idol worship’ which is contained in mainstream teaching of Abrahamic religions like Islam and Christianity. Hence such incidents are seen from every part of the country where the “minorities” are found in sizeable numbers. Add to that a new wave of radical neo-Ambedkarites who spout venom against Hindu Dharma.
