Around 12 families living in Muzaffarnagar district of UP, consisting of 80-odd individuals, have reverted to Hindu Dharma on Sunday, reports Navbharat Times.
These families, belonging to the Dhobi SC community, originally belonged to Rampur district of UP. They allege that they had been forced to convert to Islam around 12 years back due to sustained harassment by veteran SP leader Azam Khan.
They were welcomed back to the Hindu fold in a ceremony conducted at Yog Sadhna Ashram by Maharaj Yashvir. After being sprinkled with Gangajal, wearing the janaeu sacred thread, they all recited Gayatri mantra and offered ahuti (oblation) to the sacred fire of the yajna.
These SC (‘Dalit’) Hindus like Kavita (earlier Imrana) and Savita (earlier Harjana) said they were pressurized to convert to Islam by Azam Khan’s goons who threatened to snatch away their lands. They were promised some benefits as well. But after becoming Muslims, their lands were still swallowed up by Khan’s land mafia cronies. They said that lakhs of people suffered due to Azam Khan’s terror, and they are now happy to return to their Dharma.
It is notable that a Hindu won the Rampur assembly seat for the first time ever in the recent by-polls, with BJP’s Aakash Saxena defeating SP’s Asim Raja, Azam Khan’s protege, by a margin of 34,136 votes. Bypolls to the Rampur seat were necessitated after sitting SP MLA Azam Khan was disqualified after a court sentenced him to 3-year imprisonment for delivering hate speech during the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign.
Azam Khan – an icon of ‘secular’ (Islamist) politics
Azam Khan is one of the founding members of the Samajwadi Party and is a 10-time MLA from Rampur assembly constituency, besides being a former MP in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. He was the de-facto no. 2 in both the Mualayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav led UP governments, holding several important ministries.
Stories of Khan’s corruption, intimidation of bureaucrats & police officers, and below-the-belt abusive attacks on opponents are legion. After an IAS officer who had cracked down on the sand mafia was suspended by his govt. in 2013, Khan had sarcastically commented “Ram naam ki loot hai, loot sako to loot lo” (You are allowed to loot in the name of Sri Ram) displaying his brazen contempt for law & order.
Azam Khan and his brood are infamous in Rampur and nearby areas for land grabbing, forgery and other acts of thuggery. This habitual offender is an epitome of the lawlessness and Muslim communalism promoted by the MSY family-run Samajwadi Party, all in the name of ‘Lohiate secular-socialist’ politics.
Khan has close to 90 FIRs lodged against him in various cases of land grabbing, forgery, book theft, statue theft, goat theft, buffalo theft, power theft, and several others. Apart from brazen corruption, he was also drawing a ‘loktantra senani’ (democracy warrior) pension of Rs20K per month which the Yogi govt. stopped.
Some of the most egregious land grabs and forgeries Azam Khan is accused of were carried out in the name of Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust founded by him. Khan got the SP government to pass an Act to enable takeover of villager’s land for Jauhar University to be established by this trust in Rampur. Apart from encroachment of village lands, he also violated regulations by building a mosque inside the university premises.
Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar was a pan-Islamist leader born in 1878 in then Rampur princely state. A product of the Aligarh school, he was one of the main leaders of the notorious Khilafat movement and co-founder of the Muslim League as well as Jamia Millia Islamia university. He even served briefly as the Congress President in 1923, but turned into a Jinnah supporter by the end of that decade and is celebrated as a hero in Pakistan today.
How and why the Indian Republic allows the glorification of such a man is a question every sane citizen should ask.
Despite the staggering number of criminal acts he stands accused of, Azam Khan managed to get bail in May this year, after spending a mere 27 months in jail. Khan and his forgery-accused son were represented in the apex court by none other than the notorious Lutyen’s lawyer Kapil Sibal. Supreme Court bench headed by Justice L Nageswara Rao granted Khan bail, saying it is a ‘fit case to invoke its extraordinary power under Article 142 of the Constitution as facts in the present case are very peculiar’.
After he was convicted on October 27 in the hate speech, which led to his disqualification from the UP Assembly, Khan was immediately granted bail by a special court.
He remains a free man as of today, biding his time to get back to his predatory ways once SP and other ‘secular’ forces manage to win the electoral game of dice, on which Hindu fate hangs in our broken electoral democracy.
