“Tension Flares In WB’s Asansol Amid Loudspeaker Regulation Drive; Police Outpost Hit by Violent Muslim Mob.”, Hindu Existence Organisation, May 16, 2026

“Tension erupted in West Bengal’s Asansol after a police outpost in the Jahangiri Mohalla area was allegedly attacked by a Muslim mob during an administrative awareness drive regarding loudspeaker regulations at religious places. The violence, which reportedly involved stone pelting and vandalism, led to damage to police property and several vehicles before security forces brought the situation under control.

According to reports, police personnel attached to the Jahangiri Mohalla outpost under the Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate had been conducting an awareness campaign in the Railpar area regarding permissible sound limits for loudspeakers used at religious institutions, including mosques and temples.

Disagreement Emerged During Police Interaction on Mosque Loudspeaker Volume

Sources said the situation became tense when police interacted with local Muslim residents regarding lowering the volume of mosque loudspeakers in accordance with administrative guidelines. During the discussions, a division of opinion reportedly emerged within the local Muslim community…….”
