Stone pelting and sword attack on Police in Delhi’s Seemapuri on Gandhi Jayanti

A mob of Muslims launched a fierce attack with stones and swords on a Delhi police team which had come to arrested a suspected criminal in Seemapuri, Shahadra.

The incident occurred on October 2, Saturday night. A meat-shop owner Shah Alam was threatened over phone a few days back to pay extortion money. On Saturday, 3 men arrived at his shop and fired several shots after showering abuses. Alam and his brother somehow ducked and saved their lives. After a crowd gathered, the criminals left.

Police arrived at the scene and after investigation found that criminals living in ‘Bengali jhuggi’ (named after illegal Bangladeshi/Rohingya immgrants?) were behind the firing. They started searching in the slum area. Suddenly a mob of locals started pelting stones and also attacked them with swords. Police managed to arrest one criminal, Moidul, but had to retreat due to ferocity of the attack. SHO Padam Singh Rana and four other policemen were injured.

Later, a larger police force arrived and arrested 9 others, including two females: Rukhsana, Mehmooda, Iqbal, Hasibul, Firoz, Darazul, Md. Miya, ‘Rahul’ Ameen, ‘Ajay’.

Seemapuri MLA is Rajendra Pal Gautam of AAP. Earlier the seat was with Congress since 1998.

The area had earlier seen anti-CAA rioting. As per Delhi police, more than 15 illegal Bangladeshis joined the mob violence in Seemapuri after Muslim prayers on Friday, December 20,2019. In Decmeber 2020, a Bangladeshi citizen sentenced to death for kidnapping & murder who had escaped and illegally entered Bharat was found living in Delhi with help of acquaintances in Seemapuri and other areas.

A troubling documentary in 2016 had revealed that Sundar Nagri area in Seemapuri assembly constituency was witnessing a silent Hindu exodus due to the usual reasons: rise in petty crime, sexual harassment of girls and women, grooming jihad using false Hindu identities, rash bike driving and use of foul language with intent to intimidate, gradual objection to temple aartis culminating in violence.
