A Muslim youth raped a minor Hindu girl after grooming her in Bettiah, Bihar. Even more shockingly, his nephew (sister’s son) made a pornographic video of the heinous deed. The accused continued sexually abusing the child, and when she became pregnant, he dumped her and left.

The police have arrested the accused Sonu Ali (25), his elder brother Israfeel Ali and brother-in-law Saip Miyan, whereas the girl’s father has named 10 people in his FIR.

The case pertains to Narkatiaganj town of Shikarpur police station area of ​​the district. The girl, who belongs to an SC community, was first lured to elope at age 15 by Sonu Ali.

In 2021, she had gone to give her board exams when she disappeared. Her father lodged a missing complaint with police and the girl was recovered. She was taken by Sonu Ali (aged 23 at the time) to his sister’s place in Diulia, where he lived at the time. There, he raped her while his sister’s son recorded a video of the crime.

When the girl told her father that she had been raped, he decided to lodge a police complaint but was dissuaded from doing so by some villagers who asked him to ‘settle’ the matter via the local panchayat. It appears that Sonu Ali offered to ‘marry’ the girl (which would have been illegal as the girl was, and still is, a minor). Later, he took the girl with him and they started living in a rented house. Did the distraught father agree to this ‘compromise’ in the hope that the accused would marry his daughter once she turned adult?

But once the girl became pregnant, Ali abandoned her. On February 2 the father and daughter went to visit Ali and family in Raxaul, East Champaran district. There, they were abused, assaulted and driven away.

The father then lodged an FIR at the Shikarpur police station, in which he named 10 people including the accused youth, his elder brother and brother-in-law. Police arrested the accused Sonu Ali (25), a resident of Laxmipur Mohalla of Raxaul police station area, his elder brother Israfeel Ali and his brother-in-law Saip Miyan, a resident of Diulia of Shikarpur police station area.
