A case of a minor who was raped and killed was reported from Hapur of Uttar Pradesh. Amjad who is in his late thirties was arrested by the police. The victim was just 6 years old. 

Amjad is married and has three children. Two of them were not at home when the incident happened. His youngest child, also a girl, used to play with the victim. Police said that they were investigating all possible angles in the case.

Hapur assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Sarvesh Mishra said the girl had stepped out of her house to buy something on Thursday when the accused lured her to his house. He sexually assaulted her and then killed her. Amjad is the girl’s neighbor and lives barely 50 meters away.

Having indulged in the heinous crime, Amjad locked his front door and escaped. He even dug a couple of graves but he could not bury the dead body. 

The young girl went missing on Thursday, December 2 and her family began to search for her. They tried hard to locate the young girl but failed. The next day, they lodged a complaint and police combed the locality but did not search his house since it was locked. 

CCTV footage confirmed that the girl had not left the area. It is not known why the police did not search Amjad’s locked house the same day itself. 

Later, neighbors found a foul smell emanating from Amjad’s house. They managed to enter Amjad’s house through the roof, found the dead body and informed the police. ASP Sarvesh said that police broke open the front door lock and recovered the body of the 6-year-old draped in a blanket and stuffed inside a trunk. 

The body was sent for a post-mortem and the report confirmed rape.  Amjad was later arrested from Trilokipuram and admitted to the crime, the ASP said.

Before the police could arrest Amjad, locals thrashed him severely. They were so infuriated that they would have killed him, had police not intervened. Police personnel had to form a cordon around him to protect him from the angry locals and they whisked him away.
