Several POCSO cases reported from Kerala

On Sunday, a Muslim Youth League leader accused of sexually abusing 5th-standard girls near Edappal in Malappuram was arrested by Kerala police. Changaramkulam police arrested the absconding teacher. Kumaranelloor native Samad, a former member of Kapoor Gram Panchayat and leader of the Muslim Youth League, was arrested by the police under the POCSO Act.

Muslim Youth League, abbreviated as the Youth League, is the youth wing of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). Samad (40) went absconding after the police registered a case. The Changaramkulam police had intensified their investigation but were unable to find him. The accused allegedly hid in Bengaluru but surrendered at the Changaramkulam police station.

Samad sexually assaulted several children studying in the primary school of Vattamkulam panchayat. The children complained to the other teachers about the pedophile misbehaving in the class. Nine children gave statements against the teacher.

The school teachers informed Child Line workers, who came and took detailed statements from the children. A case was registered according to the report given by the Child Line authorities to the police. The parents of the children also complained to the police. Police have registered nine cases against Samad.

The POCSO cases were filed last week. Changaramkulam police have also registered a case against Shihab Kuniyakethil (37), a native of Kollanoor, who helped Samad escape. Shihab arranged a new SIM card and assisted him in absconding.

The investigating team said that the pedophile teacher appeared at the Changaramkulam police station on Wednesday morning when he understood that he would be caught. Samad was produced in Ponnani court and remanded.

Thalassery police arrested a madrasah teacher and charged him with a POCSO case. The accused was arrested for sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl. They arrested Mohammed, a resident of Koduvalli, Kozhikode.

The police registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the child’s relatives. Mohd. often tortured the child who came to study in the madrasa. After the child developed health problems, the information about the abuse came to light during the investigation. After questioning, the accused was produced in court on Tuesday.

The Hindu reported that a school teacher named Yusuf (40) sexually abused a Standard Two student in Kasaragod. Police registered a case against Yusuf under the POCSO Act.

Visual media that scrambled teams to report the crisis in Joshimath refused to report the dastardly crimes inside a place of worship and Gurukuls. They only report the ones that fit their narrative and agenda.

An autorickshaw driver was arrested for sexually assaulting an eleven-year-old girl. Thalassery police arrested C P Siraj Pilakul (48). The incident took place on Tuesday at 5 pm. The young girl informed her parents, and a complaint was lodged with the police. Siraj had harmed the victim before this as well. The court remanded the accused.

Last week, Kasargod police arrested MTP Muhammad Swalihi (21) and charged him with POCSO. The accused, who works in a bakery in Chennai, met a 17-year-old college student through social media and pretended to be in love with her. Swalihi is a native of Chandera, Kasargod, and was detained by Cheemeni police station Sub-Inspector K Ajitha.

Police said that Swalihi met the girl a year ago through Facebook. The acquaintance soon turned into grooming, and the minor victim fell for it. The accused took her to Pazhayangadi, Payyannur, and Payyambalam in Kannur and sexually assaulted her.

Local grew suspicious when he took the minor girl to a rented room in Cheemeni, Kasargod, and tried to rape her. The atrocity emerged when the girl informed residents about the harassment and molestation.

Later the police arrived and took them to the station and recorded the girl’s statement. They registered a case under the POCSO Act against Swalihi and arrested him. The accused was produced in the Hosdurg court on Thursday afternoon and remanded.

Mainstream media did not report the incident, and it is suspected that the victim is a non-Muslim.
