‘Serial kisser’ gang led by Md. Akram which molested several women arrested: Jamui, Bihar

Bihar Police have arrested Mohammed Akram, the leader of a ‘serial kisser’ gang that had sexually assaulted several women walking alone on the streets in Jamui, and his 4 associates in a raid on Sunday evening. As per police, these people used to assault women in daytime and carry out thefts at night.

Bihar Police has arrested another man, Faiz Ansari, on Saturday for forcibly kissing a health worker after sneaking up behind her while she was talking on the phone within Jamui Sadar hospital premises on March 10. It is not known if Ansari is part of Akram’s gang.

That video had gone viral on social media, where a man, now known to be Ansari, was seen forcibly kissing the saree-clad health worker.

The victim told the media, “I don’t know why he came into the hospital compound. I don’t know the man. What have I done to him? When he preyed on me, I resisted and called the hospital staff. But the man had escaped by then…The boundary wall is extremely short. I have requested the authorities to put up a barbed fence and protect the women who frequent the hospital.”

A similar incident occurred on Sunday in Jhajha city, Jamui, when a minor working outside her home was harassed by a man & forcibly kissed when she protested. He was later arrested, but his identity is not known, or whether he too is a member of Akram’s gang.

The brazenness of such criminals preying on ordinary Hindu women and girls has sparked concern among netizens. Many people called for stricter law enforcement and judicial action to protect women from sexual harassment and assault. Unfortunately, the courts are sending the exact opposite signals to such predators by commuting sentences of convicted child rapist-murderers or acquitting them altogether on flimsy/technical grounds.

Many social media users noticed that Mohammed Akram was wearing a kalava (Hindu sacred thread). It is a common ploy by radical Islamists who fake Hindu identity to lure their victims into a false sense of complacency, and to demonize the other community for crimes committed by them. Faking a Hindu identity is also a common practise among Islamist love/grooming jihadis.
