“A cloud of mystery has descended upon the revered portals of the Himalayan shrine of Kedarnath Temple after the disappearance of the Roop Chhad, a sacred silver sceptre believed by devotees to represent the divine presence of Lord Kedarnath himself. The incident has triggered widespread concern among devotees and temple authorities, prompting the BJP led Uttarakhand government to order a high-level investigation.
The Roop Chhad is traditionally kept under the custody of the Badri Kedar Temple Committee, which manages the shrines of Kedarnath and Badrinath and is responsible for safeguarding all sacred objects belonging to the temples.
