Rahmat Ali killed after co-worker Shahzada Khan inserts industrial pipe into his anus and pumps air ‘for fun’

21-year-old Rahmat Ali passed away after his co-worker Shahzada Khan inserted a pipe into his anus and pumped air through it. This horrific incident took place in Hoogly, West Bengal on November 16.

Rahmat Ali, a resident of Champdani’s ash field area working as a contract worker in the weaving department of North Brook Jute Mill, was washing his face and hands at the factory after completing his night duty. It is alleged that his co-worker Shahzada Khan, “just out of fun” inserted a pipe into his anus, and blew compressed air meant for industrial cleaning purposes. Rahmat’s stomach swelled up and he was immediately rushed to Gourhati ESI Hospital in pain. But as his condition started to deteriorate, he was referred to Chunchura Hospital.

Doctors informed that Rahmat’s liver had burst due to the high pressure air pumped into his body and both of his kidneys had been damaged. Surgery was performed on Rahmat on the day of the incident itself, but his condition remained critical. His family filed a case of attempt to murder against Shahzada Khan, who reportedly has fled the area since then.

However, Ali couldn’t be saved. His condition started to plummet and he succumbed to his injuries the next morning.

Rahmat Ali’s family alleged that not only Shahzada Khan but other mill workers are also involved in his killing. Father of the deceased, Samsuddin said with tear-filled eyes, “No one should get such a terrifying death. The accused must get exemplary punishment so that no one ever gets the audacity to attempt this kind of fun.”

An official of the Chandannagar Commissionerate said that a case of involuntary manslaughter has been filed and investigations are in progress. The search for the accused is ongoing. An investigation to find out if any other workers were also involved in the incident is also underway.
