An NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) worker from Pune was booked concerning a road rage case. He was accused of harassing and abusing a Bengaluru-based couple, damaging their car, and passing sexually coloured remarks on the woman.

The incident took place on Friday night at around 9 PM near Spicer College on Aundh Road. The accused identified as NCP worker Sujeet Satish Kate began abusing the couple in the middle of the road. Chaturshrungi police booked the accused based on the complaint filed by the woman who is a lawyer.

The couple has their crockery business in Bengaluru while the woman’s in-laws reside in Aundh. The couple was on their way to pick up a parcel from Aundh when the incident occurred. As per the woman, they were driving through heavy traffic when they noticed that Kate’s car was about to hit theirs. She knocked on his car and signalled him to wait to avoid a collision.

Angered by this, the NCP worker exited the car and started abusing the couple. He then climbed on the bonnet of the complainant’s car and smashed the front glass of the car damaging it. Furthermore, he threatened to kill the couple and closed their car door injuring her husband.

“The road rage incident led to molestation. The complainant has alleged that the accused abused her in filthy language and damaged her car. We have lodged the FIR under section 354(A)(4)( making sexually coloured remarks, shall be guilty of the offence of sexual harassment), 324( voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. We issued him a notice under section 41 of the criminal procedure code”, Senior Police Inspector Balaji Pandhare of the Chaturshrungi Police Station informed the media.
