Navy man Suraj Kumar Dubey’s gruesome murder in Palghar

The gruesome murder of navy officer Suraj Kumar Dubey who was burnt alive in Palghar after having been kidnapped from Chennai airport has sent shock waves among the citizens of the country. Reports indicate that the navy officer succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

Suraj Kumar Dubey was a 27-year-old Navy official who originally hailed from Ranchi in Jharkhand. The Navy man was allegedly set ablaze after he turned down INR 10 lakh ransom demanded by the accused. The incident took place in Maharashtra’s Palghar where Hindu sadhus and their Hindu driver were lynched to death by a mob barely a year ago.

Palghar SP Dattatray Shinde has issued a statement in the matter saying “A case has been registered against three unidentified persons and a probe has been initiated”. As per reports, the young navy officer succumbed to his injuries on Saturday while he was being treated at a Mumbai hospital.

The Navy officer is believed to have been kidnapped on 31 January near Chennai airport by three as yet unidentified men who supposedly kept the former at an undisclosed location in Chennai. The men supposedly shifted Navy officer Dubey to the forest area close to Vevji village which is located in Palghar district’s Talasari taluka on the morning of 5 February.

The New Indian Express report says:

After seeing a naked man in the forest around noon, the locals informed the Vevji police station under Gholwad police station. A case under Sections 302, 364, 392 and 34 has been registered against the three unidentified kidnappers at Gholwad police station.

OpIndia has detailed the sequence of events that led up to the young navy man’s cold-blooded murder:

As per reports, Dubey was a resident of Ranchi, Jharkhand. He had recently got engaged and was to be married in about three months’ time. He worked as a seaman at INS Agrani training school in Coimbatore. The victim, who was on a leave, had returned to Chennai on January 31 via a flight. At around 9 pm, the Navy sailor was threatened by three people with a revolver and his cellphone was snatched away. The unidentified men then forced Dubey into a white SUV and asked him to pay ₹10 lakhs as ransom.

Dubey was at first admitted to a hospital in Dahanu but later shifted to military hospital INHS Asvini as his condition began to worsen. However, he is said to have succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on arrival at the military hospital.

Although, investigations are underway in this case, it is baffling that the navy sailor was taken 1500 kilometres away to Palghar from Chennai. Palghar police has said that they are going through CCTV footage and mobile call records to gather more leads regarding the culprits in the case.

In the meanwhile, Mithilesh Dubey, Suraj Kumar Dubey’s father, spoke to the media. He said:

I want justice for my son. That’s the message I want to get across via media. He gave a statement before dying that he was kidnapped and imprisoned for three days, being made an object of ransom. He was then brought to Palghar and burnt to death.

It was earlier pointed out by Hindupost as to how the Church-Communist partnership was leading to radicalization of tribals. Christian missionary organizations along with Naxal outfits were poisoning the minds of tribals against Hindus. It is well-known that the cops stood as mute spectators and were even seen pushing away the poor Sadhus instead of protecting them when a blood thirsty mob lynched them to death.

An independent fac-finding team set up by Vivek Vichar Manch had then confirmed involvement of leftist organizations and Christian missionaries in the brutal lynching of Hindu Sadhus and their driver at Mumbai’s Palghar in April this year. Further, in its 149 page detailed report the fact-finding team comprising of retired judges, senior police officers and lawyers had blamed certain groups for adopting a violent approach and inciting the tribals of the area against the Central Government.

In fact, a two-judge bench of the Supreme Court (SC) had also pulled up the Maharashtra government with regard to the action taken against errant police officials involved in the case. Following this, Kale, in-charge of Palghar’s Kasa police station, assistant sub-inspector Ravi Salunke and Constable Naresh Dhodi, who were earlier suspended along with five other colleagues, were removed from service.

Readers must be reminded that eyewitnesses had then revealed the role of ultra-leftists in the Palghar lynching case. With this background, the gruesome murder of the young navy officer at a time when the Palghar Hindus lynching case is as yet unresolved is highly suspicious and the role of ultra-leftists and Christian missionaries who have been active in this region for several decades now can certainly not be ignored.

As a My Nation report had indicated communist and Christian missionaries have been regularly attacking Hindus in Palghar by radicalizing the tribals and either converting them to Christianity or recruiting them as Naxals. The My Nation report said:

Attacks on Hindu organisations and activists have been happening in the Dahanu-Palghar region of Maharashtra since the 1970s and 80s. An attempt on the life of Dama Anna Tokekar, the founder of Hindu Sewa Sangh was made in 1980. Vamanrao Sahastrabudhe and his wife were killed in the attack while Tokedar was luckily away elsewhere. Vishwa Hindu Parishad Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram Kendra in Talasari, Palghar was attacked by a violent mob of 700-800 and many other attempts have been made several times.

Palghar is turning into a battleground with the Naxal-Missionary combine even attempting to divide families. Only a thorough probe by a central agency can ensure justice to the young navy officer Suraj Kumar Dubey.
