A Muslim man has been accused of raping and murdering a Hindu woman he was allegedly in a relationship with because he was suspicious of her friendly relations with another man. As per reports, the incident took place on Saturday evening in the Okhla industrial area as the woman was returning from work. The victim and accused, identified as Chand Alam, were said to be in a live-in relationship.

Alam took the woman forcibly to the railway godown where he brutally murdered her by slitting her throat. The police say that the woman was slashed more than 10 times. The accused has been taken into custody. Available information indicates that Alam befriended the woman Jharna Devi at the factory where the two worked together.

According to some reports, Alam forced the victim into a physical relationship with him. There were fights and arguments between the two as Alam suspected the woman was friends with another man. On Saturday, the victim left the factory around 5 in the evening, and as she passed the railway line, Alam confronted her.

He then dragged her to the railway godown where he assaulted her with a pair of scissors. He wrapped her dead body in a plastic bag and smashed her mobile phone. He disposed of the scissors and blood-stained clothes in a drain near the slum where he lived. When Jharna didn’t reach home at night, her family members set out to look for her and filed a complaint with the police. The police were informed about her dead body by a person.

The identity of the accused came to light during the course of police investigations when they discovered that on the night of the murder the victim was with the accused. However, Alam had fled from his home. The Okhla police team launched a search operation and arrested the accused from Indira Kalyan Vihar. The police also recovered the scissors used in the murder, the victim’s mobile phone, and the blood-stained clothes of the accused.
