A disturbing incident has been reported from Basirhat in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district right before the Hindus in the state gear up for the upcoming Rash Utsav. Several murtis of Hindu deities that were being sculpted for the Rash Utsav were found vandalized in Sarapool under the Swarupnagar police station area on Wednesday, November 17.
Some murtis have been beheaded and some have been maimed. This has irked major unrest in the area; locals had informed the police about the vandalism after which the police had taken away the vandalised murtis with them and have initiated investigations in the matter.
No one has been arrested in this case, informed the police as per the latest reports available. “We got information that some idols of Hindu gods were vandalised by unknown miscreants. Our officers are in the area at the moment, probing the matter,” Joby Thomas, Superintendent of Police of Basirhat police district communicated to PTI. “If anybody is found guilty, we will take legal action,” he added.
Police have not been able to find any leads about the miscreants so far.
However, the tense atmosphere in the area continued to prevail as locals took to the streets protesting the vandalism, informed a North 24 Parganas district official. Members of the BJP led by youth leader Palash Sarkar also joined the protest. On the other hand, Thomas has confirmed that the situation has been brought “under control at the moment and there is no problem”.
It must be highlighted that the area of the incident, Swarupnagar is one of the last villages of Bharat that lies very close to the Bharat-Bangladesh border. The Islamic nation had witnessed a series of attacks during the Saradia Durga Puja throughout October. Hence, the possibility of Bangladeshi radicals infiltrating through the porous border to create unrest in Bharat cannot be ruled out completely.
The Member of Parliament for the Bashirhat constituency is actress-turned-politician Nusrat Jahan. Jahan has so far not given any statement on the case adding to the angst amongst her constituents.
It is all so very tragic. More so in the Hindu regime of Modi at the Centre. Even the RSS has been subverted by Bhagwat. Time has come when either both of them should change their ways of Muslim appeasement or let Shah or Yogi take over. The anti-Hindu Story of Bengal and Kerala is gradually drifting to Andhra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Delhi.
Rather if you protest, action will be taken against you. You’ll be arrested on the plea that you’re destroying communal harmony and peace. So the Hindus must be always be ready to be on the receiving end
No one will be arrested. And no one will be taken action against. Here in West Bengal there is a sharp tilt towards Muslims. In most cases they are unduly favored. Many such types of vandalism (deity demolition) have occurred and reported in social media. But no action has been taken, forget arresting the guilty. WB Govt. takes soft stance towards the Muslim communities. And as a result, deities and Hindu idols of God & Goddess are deliberately beheaded at higher propensity by extremist Muslims who’re looked up with mercy from administration lest they fell out of favor Muslim vote. By 2040, no deities of Hindu Gods & Goddesses will probably be there!
