Yet another incident of a Hindu mandir being desecrated by an Islamist man has come to light from the secular Indian Republic.
This time, Mohammed Chand has targeted the Brahma Sthan mandir located in Azam Nagar mohalla, Vishwavidyalaya police station area of Darbhanga city in Bihar on Wednesday, January 11. Murti puja is termed as ‘idol worship’ by Abrahamic religions like Islam and Christian, and regarded as the greatest of sins. The core texts of these religions have several verses asking their adherents to remove all traces of ‘idol worship’ and establish their respective ‘one true religion’.
As is often the case, the accused Islamist was arrested by police only after angry protests by locals. The Brahma Sthan temple reportedly has no door. Accused Mohammed Chand entered the temple and desecrated murtis of deities besides breaking a statue of King Shailesh. He then threw these into a nearby pond, and set fire to the puja (worship) material kept in the temple, as per reports.
Police claims that due to an ongoing dispute over the path to the temple, a gate was not built. Locals are now demanding that a temple gate be installed for protection, and assisted by VHP activists a temporary gate has been set up.
But more than any physical barrier, what is needed is the deradicalization of Indian Muslim minds, which have been fed a steady diet of anti-Hindu indoctrination by leading Islamic seminaries and dawah groups like Deoband, Barelvis, Tablighi etc.
Incidentally, this latest act of temple desecration from Bihar has occurred just when Bihar Education Minister Prof. Chandrashekhar Yadav, an RJD MLA, went on a rant against Hindu Dharma, denigrating the sacred Ramcharitmanas written by Goswami Tulsidas as ‘hateful’. Will Mr. Yadav or his party bosses care to enlighten us on what text caused Mohammed Chand to desecrate the Brahm Sthan mandir?
