A Pak Hindu refugee family was attacked by a mob of 300 Muslims in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur district. As per available information, the incident took place yesterday evening. The victim’s family had come to Jodhpur from Pakistan 12 years ago. At least four people including a woman have been severely injured in the attack.
One of the victims Bhoora runs a grocery shop in the Bakra Mandi area. When Bhoora was returning to his shop, a truck carrying cattle hit his van. Bhoora, who was accompanied by a female relative, spoke to the truck driver asking him to sort the matter out since Bhoora was traveling along with a patient. However, the brawl continued and soon about 300 Islamists gathered at the spot.
The mob that had arrived from the Bakra Mandi area ransacked Bhoora’s house and shop. Bhoora and three others were injured in the attack. The Boranada police authorities intervened to bring the situation under control. There have been accusations of police favoring the Muslims and asking the Hindus to leave the spot.
The police have said that these clashes between two communities as a result of a ‘mere’ accident. Jodhpur West DCP stated that a case has been registered in the matter and further investigations are ongoing.
“The incident happened around 2.30 pm. First, the truck driver hit my Maruti van car. After a short scuffle, he called about 300 people from Bakra Mandi. They destroyed my house and my grocery shop”, he said. “The victim is Bhoora Lal who runs a grocery business shop named Balaji Kirana and General Store”, OpIndia quoted Pakistani Hindu Ranjeet as saying. Hindu Sindh Foundation President Sanjesh Dhanja condemned the attack.
