Did media distort the Badaun ‘gang rape’ case just because of temple link?

Media had been making allegations of a middle-aged woman being brutally gang-raped and murdered in Badaun on 3 January. The media has been distorting the narrative right from the start to suit its anti-Hindu agenda. The case has already taken several twists and turns while the media has been running propaganda to berate Hindus by painting the case as a crime against Dalits or bringing in the temple link simply to promote its Hindudveshi agenda.

Hindi media house Dainik Bhaskar conveniently changed the caste of the victim from Rajput to Dalit so as to present the case as one of anti-Dalit atrocity. News website Falanadikhana conducted a detailed ground investigation to get a complete and real picture of the case.

As per the website, villagers stated that the victim was having an illicit affair with a Tantrik named Satyanaran Das. This has been confirmed by the police as well. The woman and Das were in touch with each other over the phone and their call details confirm that used to communicate for hours together. The two had spoken to each other over 800 times in the last three months.

According to the neighbors, the woman had been having an affair since her husband is daft (कम बुद्धि). Villager Munish Pal and Sarpanch (village headman) Suresh’s brother Ramavatar also confirmed the two being in an illicit relationship. Most of the villagers were aware of their relationship and the woman had even met Das on the night of the incident.

On the night of the incident, the victim and Das were present within the temple premises when a villager named Shila Yadav, who carries out farming on the temple land, spotted the two together. Fearing that they would be caught Das asked the woman to hide in a room located within the temple premises. A dry unused well lies within the room in which the woman fell and received injuries to her ribs, private parts, and head from the parts of the motor inside the well.

The police inspected the well in the presence of the villagers and found traces of blood along with the woman’s broken bangles inside the well confirming that the woman had indeed fallen into the well due to which she was injured. Seeing that the woman was injured Das called for help and dialed Vedram with whose help he pulled the woman out.

Das then asked Vedram to phone Jaspal, a driver who runs rental car services. As per the villagers, Jaspal is a very straightforward man and arrives whenever people call him. Das then took the woman to the hospital at Chandausi for treatment. However, since the woman was badly injured the doctors turned him away. He then dropped the woman back at her residence. As per reports, the woman was alive when Das dropped her back home at around 12 in the night.

Village resident Munish Pal is a doctor in whose fields Vedram works. Vedram narrated the entire sequence of events to Munish who then informed the police. Subsequently, Vedram was asked to surrender. Both the police and villagers have stated that the victim and Das had been in a physical relationship, however, the woman was not gang-raped as has been stated by the media time and again.

Both Vedram and the driver Jaspal have only got caught in the issue because they went forward to help Das. Had it not been so, they would be free today. It must be mentioned here that Shila Yadav has also been taken into custody by the police who are conducting further investigations in the case, so as to obtain more information from her.

However, the one-sided and false media narrative that has been created by both English and Hindi media in their blind hatred for everything Hindu is appalling and unethical too. Since media is never held accountable they have been taking the liberty to malign Hindu dharma at every available opportunity.
