Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui was taken into custody by the Uttar Pradesh (UP) ATS (Anti-terrorism Squad) on 21 September in connection with the mass illegal conversion racket that had been unearthed in June this year.
Maulana Siddiqui targeted Brahmin, Kshatriya Hindu girls
A viral audio clip has been shared by Zee News in which Siddiqui is heard admitting identifying ‘upper class’ Hindu girls as targets for the mass illegal conversion syndicate operated by him.
In the clip, Siddiqui is heard saying “isse pehle aaye the toh who bole ki choti jaat ke hain, agar ladki Brahmin ya Kshatriya ya phir koi badi jaat ki ho toh woh jam jaata hain” (…the ones who came before, belonged to the lower caste, its better if the girl is a Brahmin, Kshatriya or from any other upper caste)”. The Maulana further says that he would do something in this regard once the lockdown is lifted.
Maulana Siddiqui funded by Pakistan
The UP ATS has stated that Siddiqui ran the biggest Islamic conversion syndicate and that he received funds for the same from Pakistan. It has been alleged that Siddiqui’s network is larger than that of Umar Gautam who is said to have converted thousands of Hindus in UP and Delhi.
Officials suspect that a large number of people have been converted to Islam by Siddiqui under his agenda of grooming and increasing the Muslim population. The ATS is conducting a search on finding five of his associates, who are currently at large. Reports suggest that they might be hiding in Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Delhi.
Siddiqui supposedly received not just funds from Pakistan but technical support as well and admitted to having changed his mobile number twice to avoid being detected by the ATS as he feared arrest after Umar Gautam was taken into custody.
It has come to light that Maulana Siddiqui runs Jamia Imam Waliullah Trust that funds several madrassas. He is said to have received huge foreign funding for his activities. A media statement by Uttar Pradesh Police ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar confirms this.
“He runs Jamia Imam Waliullah Trust that funds several madrassas for which he received huge foreign funding. Investigation shows Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui’s trust received Rs 3 crores in foreign funding, including Rs 1.5 from Bahrain. Six teams of ATS have been formed to investigate this case“, Kumar informed the media.
Maulana Siddiqui arrested in Meerut
Maulana Siddiqui was arrested from Meerut late on Tuesday night along with three of his associates while they were returning from a program. Reports suggest that the UP ATS interrogated all of them throughout the night.
AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, who had supported Narsinghanand Saraswati’s beheading calls and defended riots accused Tahir Hussain, came out in support of Siddiqui.
Khan termed Siddiqui’s arrest as ‘atrocity on Muslims’ and tweeted “Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui, a famous Islamic scholar, has been arrested before the elections in Uttar Pradesh. The atrocities on Muslims are increasing. The silence of secular parties on these issues is giving more strength to the BJP. BJP, how much will you fall to win the election”?
Samajwadi Party MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq has been quoted by Times Now as saying “This is wrong. The BJP government has no work other than harassing Muslims”.
Interestingly, as per India TV News, Siddiqui had also taken part in the ‘Nation first and nation paramount’ program organized by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in Mumbai earlier this month.
Security agencies had been keeping a close watch on Siddiqui on account of his suspicious activities. The arrest of Maulana Siddiqui along with that of Umar Gautam earlier brings to focus the huge Islamic illegal conversion mafia funded particularly by Pakistan operational in the country.
