Mohammed Arif turns Kesariya to dupe Hindu woman, Kanpur police lodges FIR

A case of grooming has come to light from Kanpur where one Mohammed Arif befriended a young girl on Facebook by hiding his religious identity and raped the young woman. The woman alleged that the man had identified himself as Rajveer Kesariya on Facebook and raped the woman by promising to marry her.

Subsequently, she became pregnant and started pressurizing her Facebook friend for marriage but the man refused to marry her. It was only after the victim somehow traced and contacted his family, that she came to know that her Facebook friend is not Rajveer Kesariya, but Mohammad Arif. The shocked woman then lodged an FIR with the Kanpur police against Arif for duping her.

According to news reports, the victim is a fashion designer who hails from Nawabganj. She befriended a man named Mohammad Arif who had made a Facebook ID with the name Rajveer Kesariya. He first befriended her under the pretext of finding her a job. As per media reports, their friendship later turned into a love affair. He then developed a physical relationship with the woman by promising to marry her.

However, when the woman became pregnant and started pressurizing him for marriage, Arif is believed to have abused her and stopped talking to her. Following this, she traced his family and learned that he was Raibareli Lalganj resident Mohammad Arif.

The victim has filed a case against Arif in the Nawabganj police station. Police have registered a case based on the victim’s complaint under various sections relating to SC-ST Act, rape, and abuse. But the police have not filed a case under the new Grooming (Love Jihad) law even though Arif duped the woman by hiding his religious identity and lured the woman trapped the woman in the name of love. Nawabganj Police officer Devendra Kumar has said that the search for the accused is ongoing.
