Another case of grooming Jihad has come to light from Shahjahanpur of Uttar Pradesh. Based on a complaint by a lady, police have registered a case against an Islamist named Kafeel his friend Farid Ahmed, mother Zayda Begum, and sister-in-law Fiza. The victim’s family has also filed a case against the Samajwadi Party (SP) district president for his alleged role. The victim has threatened to commit self-immolation if she does not get justice.
According to the police, Kafeel groomed the victim and eloped with her to Delhi. It is alleged that he hid his Muslim identity to befriend the girl. Unknown to her, he started recording videos of them making love and then used the same to blackmail her. He then started threatening her using those clips and kept on abusing her.
He forced her to convert to Islam and then pushed her to change her name. She was kept captive in Delhi and the torture continued. She was made to consume drugs. Reduced to a state of unconsciousness she was continually abused and tortured by Kafeel and his friends. When they tried to physically harm her she somehow managed to escape from her captives.
The victim is a resident of the Kashiram Colony in the Kotwali police station area of Shajahanpur. Her family has now approached the police asking for justice. The victim and her family have also appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for assistance.
The police have registered a case against five people under sections pertaining to love Jihad, conversion, rape as well as attempt to murder. Simultaneously, the police have started investigating the matter. The main accused is on the run.
Even though laws exist, cases of such atrocities against Hindu women getting entangled in love Jihad are still being recorded from UP. The question arises if existing laws are not tough enough. Do the Islamists feel that punishment and conviction are not strong enough and if that is prompting them to break the laws with such impunity and ease? The administration should take strict action so that such incidents are eliminated from our society.
