Auto-rickshaw driver Gauspar Hujur Shaikh was arrested by the Latur police on Thursday for trying to kidnap two minor sisters on the basis of the complaint filed by their parents.
According to the statement issued by the police, Shaikh lured two minor girls with the intention of kidnapping them from outside their Bank Colony road residence in Nilanga town located in Maharashtra’s Latur district. He sped his rickshaw towards Hyderabad when the distressed girls raised an alarm and began crying for help seeing the deserted roads.
Fortunately, an ex-Panchayat Samiti member who happened to be passing by that route heard the girls’ cries and intercepted the auto-rickshaw. As the girls jumped out to safety from the auto, the accused managed to flee the scene.
The police acting on the complaint of the girls’ parents managed to trace the accused and arrested him from Chourasta in Omerga town of Osmanabad district.
