Hindu youth assaulted by an Islamist mob in Gangavathi over an Instagram post on Khamenei: Koppala, KA

Tension prevailed in Gangavathi, a town in the Koppala district, after a Hindu youth was allegedly assaulted by a group of Islamist youths over a social media post related to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. As per reports from The Hans India, the incident came to light after the victim, identified as Chandrashekhar, approached the Gangavathi Town Police Station late at night and filed a complaint stating that he had been attacked and threatened.

According to the complaint, Chandrashekhar, who runs a dry fruit business in the town, had posted an Instagram story regarding the reported killing of Ali Khamenei in missile strikes involving the United States and Israel. The post allegedly triggered anger among a group of local Islamist youths, who confronted him at his workplace soon after noticing the story. Chandrashekhar reportedly received “Sar Tan Se Juda” death threats from the radical Islamic extremists.

The victim alleged that five to six Islamist youths gathered at his shop, questioned him over the social media post, and accused him of hurting their religious sentiments. The confrontation reportedly escalated into violence, with the group allegedly assaulting him and verbally abusing him. Chandrashekhar further stated that the attackers issued death threats and warned that they would enter his house and assault him again, leaving him and his family in fear.

Following the complaint, Gangavathi Town Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Police officials said statements are being recorded and CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined to identify the accused and establish the sequence of events. Authorities have also assured that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the investigation’s findings.

Recent protests in parts of Bharat expressing outrage over events in Iran show how quickly religious solidarity can mobilize crowds, with demonstrations reported across several states after the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader. Yet the same level of public mobilization is rarely seen when Bharatiya security personnel are martyred or when national security operations are carried out to protect the country.

When social media posts openly target and mock Hindus, and such content is amplified or defended by sections driven by Islamic religious extremism, it exposes a disturbing mindset of intolerance. It reflects a dangerous trend where religious identity is placed above national unity and mutual respect.
