Hindu mother threatened for seeking justice for murdered daughter: UP

A old woman who has been running from pillar to post to get justice for her daughter who was murdered 4 years back, is now being threatened with further harm by the accused Salman and his father Sajid Ali. On 19 September 2021, Uma Shukla has approached ADG, UP police to protect her from the killers of her daughter Rachna Shukla.

In a long and torturous struggle to seek justice (video in link), an old lady and her family is being threatened with murder and harm by influential goons. Already her son has been implicated in an alleged false case and jailed while her other daughter was threatened with a pistol pointed to her head in her own home. All this so that they stop seeking punishment for murderers of Rachna.

Rachna Shukla (19) was murdered on 17 April 2016 by Salman, Lucky and Anjaf at Salman’s home in Prayagrag, UP. Her dead body was found near Pratapgarh road in burnt condition. According to Salman’s confession to police, they had a dispute over a scooty and he was holding a grudge against Rachna ever since. He called her to his home on some pretext and there, with the help of Lucky and Anjaf, killed her with a knife.

Investigators found that Rachna and Salman were in a relationship for around one year. He had given a scooty to her, but the registration was on his name. Rachna wanted him to transfer the scooty to her name, and this caused a rift between the two.

After the murder, Salman called his maternal uncle who drove them all to the highway in a Fortuner and there, they dumped Rachna’s lifeless body. Sometime later, they returned with petrol and set the body on fire so that it becomes unidentifiable. Salman’s father Sajid Ali was involved in the entire conspiracy to murder Rachna and dispose of her body.

Later when her family found Rachna missing, they approached local police but since the accused were influential, the police did not do any investigation and even tried to discourage them from pursuing the case. According to Uma Shukla, police had been well-bribed by the accused Sajid Ali and hence they were not willing to make any headway in the case. Uma Shukla has also alleged that her daughter was raped before being murdered.

For four long years, the policy apathy kept the case all but buried till High Court took cognizance of the case and lambasted the investigation officer for inactivity. During these 4 years, Rachna’s brother who took up the case was allegedly implicated in a false case and sent to jail in 2018. After him, Rachna’s sister Nisha took up the case but she too had to pay the price for it. Salman along with his friend Kavi Yadav came to her home and threatened her with a pistol to withdraw the case.

It was only after mother Uma Shukla approached High Court that Court intervened and reproached the police investigation team for their callous approach. The Court ordered that the case be reopened and a Special Task Force was assigned to solve it. Acting promptly, STF arrested Salman and Lucky. Later they also caught Anjaf who had helped Salman in the murder, and another person Sharif.

In May 2021, STF recovered the Fortuner used in the crime and later was also able to finally arrest Sajid Ali. As all the accused and evidence came under police possession, the accused got apprehensive and once against started threatening the family. It is said that Sajid Ali is fond of keeping arms and is very close to the brother of dreaded mafia gangster turned politician Atiq Ahmed, who is currently lodged in a Gujarat jail (he was shifted out of UP on Supreme Court’s orders) and has joined AIMIM.

Finally, Uma Shukla approached UP ADG and sought protection for herself and her family. She wants severe punishment for the killers and their protectors so she could end the ordeal and get justice for her deceased daughter.
