A 5-year old girl who had gone along with her mother to a temple in UP to pray on the pious occasion of Mahashivratri was lured and raped by a Muslim man. The accused fled leaving the girl in a bloody state, but was later arrested by police. The girl is recovering in a hospital.

As per Amar Ujala, the incident occurred in Karhal area of Mainpuri district. The mother was inside the temple while the girl was playing outside. The accused, Irshad approached the girl and took her to a spot behind the temple.

Upon hearing the girl’s screams some locals gathered upon which Irshad ran away. The girl was rushed to hospital and a police team soon arrived to register a case against the accused. He was later arrested after a raid.
