Around ten people, including a Gram Rakshak Dal/Home Guard, were injured when a Muslim group attacked a garba event in Undhela village of Kheda district in Gujarat.
Police have rounded up a few suspects.
According to Kheda District Superintendent of Police Rajesh Gadhia, “Garba was underway in Mandvi chowk of the Undhela village late on Monday night, when a group led by Arif and Zahir entered the venue and started causing trouble. They even pelted stones. On being informed, police force rushed in and brought the situation under control.”
After the villagers identified the people involved, the police rounded up a few suspects for rioting, unlawful assembly, possessing deadly weapons and hurting voluntarily and obstructing public servants from discharging one’s duty.
Additional police force has been deployed in the village to maintain peace, and law & order.
Village Sarpanch Indravadan Patel alleged that it was a pre-planned attack as the minority community members were not only armed with sticks and other weapons, but had stored stones on the terrace of houses.

Why do the Muslims not tolerate religious and cultural performance of people of other religions is a very sad thing and deplorable matter. They don’t allow the Bengali Hindus to perform religious rites, pujas in Bangladesh. They don’t allow Israeli worshippers to parade down the street beside the Al Aqsa mosque to attend the Wailing Wall of Jerusalem (tough Israeli security is enforced to give safe passage to the Jews worshippers down the street). They don’t allow Easter Procession to march past the street passing thru Muslim settlement in Sweden. But remember, all these religions–the Hindu, Judaism, Christianity– are all non-invasive. I’ve never heard of, nor read any report of Hindus, Christians, Jews , Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists ….etc. invading a Mosque during prayer or attacking any Muslim procession on the street. Religious intolerance is a social evil at all levels. The religious teachers, gurus, and mullahs must preach non-violence, the spirit of co-operation, respect to other religion and firm resolve to maintain a country’s integrity at all costs.
