5 druggies – 3 Christian men, 2 Hindu women – arrested for grooming and sexually assaulting minor girl: Kerala

Parassala police arrested five people, including three Christian men and two Hindu women. They are part of a grooming gang that took a 16-year-old plus-one student they met through social media and sexually assaulted her. They groomed the victim, promising marriage. Ajin Sam, Akhilesh Sabu, Jitin Varghese, Poornima Dinesh, and Shruti Siddharth were arrested.

Parassala police camped in Ernakulam and caught the accused from a homestay in Kalady near Ernakulam. When the police reached here, the accused were using drugs. The police stated that they are addicted to deadly drugs, including MDMA. All five are residents of Kalady.

All the accused went to the girl’s house and promised marriage. They then lured her to a lodge in Neyyatinkara near Thiruvananthapuram. While everyone was talking in the hotel room, Poornima and Shruti left. Allegedly, the young women prepared the victim for the sexual assault and departed once their job was done.

Earlier, Sam befriended the young girl through Instagram. The other two accused men in the case are his friends. On the 17th night, Sam and his friends arrived in Kaliakkavilai by car, took the girl to a hotel in Neyyatinkara, and took turns sexually assaulting her. Kaliakkavilai is a town panchayat in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, close to the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border.

They returned after dropping the victim near her house on the 18th. The next day onwards, Sam’s phone was switched off. Unable to locate her ‘fiance,’ the young victim informed her family.

Following a complaint lodged by the parents with the Parassala police, the accused were arrested from Kalady. According to the police, the three men belong to a grooming gang that rapes young girls they meet on social media by promising them marriage.

These Christian criminals used Hindu girls and brought them together under the pretense of being friends so that the new minor victim does not get suspicious. It is believed that such men ply girls like Poornima and Shruti with narcotic drugs, thus forcing them to accompany the men due to their drug habits. Police confirmed that those arrested are part of a big group that lures girls through social media.

All the accused (including the ladies) were presented in the Neyyatinkara court and were remanded. Highly addictive narcotic drugs like MDMA are creating havoc in Kerala society. The religious identity of the victim remains unknown. Are some Christian men also following jihadi footsteps and using narco/grooming jihad as a tool against Hindu girls?
