Chennai: Christian college principal booked for sexually harassing girl student

The Principal of a Christian Physical Education college has been booked for sexually harassing a girl student. The man asked for sexual favours in return for finding her good opportunities. He reportedly threatened to not send her to national level competitions when she refused to comply.

George Abraham, the Principal of YMCA College of Physical Education in Chennai has been booked under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act. A Post Graduation girl student has filed a complaint against him accusing him of sexual harassing her. She has said in her complaint that the Principal obtained her number on the pretext of helping her and started sending obscene messages on WhatsApp.

He reportedly told her that he would help with her training and find better opportunities if she complies to his demands. He also called her and sexually harassed her for the past 3 months despite many warnings. As he didn’t pay heed and continued the harassment the student filed a complaint. Police told the media that they checked the victim’s phone to ascertain her accusations and found them to be true.

Police are further investigating into the matter and George Abraham is yet to be arrested.
